That's definitely a variation to consider. But I did the "duchesse" potatoes the "classic" way, for starters. I always start out with the "classic" version of a recipe before "venturing out" into variations... if that makes sense.
Anyway, since coffee would cause heartburn to 99,999999% with these, I'd say we have an "außerplanmäßig" chilled beer with them.
If I may offer a suggestion... You could top the cupcakes with the potato icing after they come out of the oven and add some "sprinkles" of green peas, lol.

These were inspired by 's reply to March 31st Question of the Day . I admit I had a brief moment, although these didn't give me heartburn after eating.
There was some challenge to the thing, though, as I had to prep main ingredients in a way I had never done them before. Instructions in searched recipes (German cooking portals) were contradicting , so I had to do it intuitively and keep a keen eye on the oven.
