We, all people, want to read a good and well-compiled story. So, if anyone can write a good story that everyone will like. So if you write a story that is not well-written, people don't like that.
So, the first and foremost condition is to stick to the basic rules. The writing ought to be attractive.
Why do people like Fantasy stories mostly?
There are some definite reasons.
There must be two characters who have some truly special powers. One uses it to fulfil evil intentions and the other uses that power to rescue the affected people. So, tremendous excitement builds up when conflicts go on. People love excitement. They become happier when positive power wins over the evil power. These are the main reasons why most of readers like fantasy stories.
