Biblical Thoughts and questions from reading God's word. |
Did you ever wonder where the idea of self-forgiveness comes from? This seems to me to be a very unbiblical idea. The only forgiveness that should matter to a Christian is the forgiveness of Christ. Once sin is truly repented of we have no business forgiving ourselves or accepting our own forgiveness; we walk under the blood of Christ. It is his blood only that can cleanse the conscience. Hebrews 9:14 How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God! |

Hebrews 10 24-25 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. |
