A group of friends who have special powers join together against evil |
[Introduction]
Four college sophomores are in for the time of their lives. This small group of friends has been inseparable since high school. The reason? Because they’re different. Each has a unique power, a special ability that nature has given them. Together they learned how to use them, harness them. Now they’ll have to take their powers to a new level, as they meet up with another group of “freaks” like themselves. They’re about to be thrown into a mess of situations that will prove to test fate. It’s the end of their reality as they know it. And the Dark Powers are coming along for the ride. ~ * ~ * ~ Name: Dawn -_- Oyanges -_- Age: 20 Power: Apparation- disappear and reappear somewhere else (apparate other people) Description: 5’5” with fair skin. She has womanly curves and a small frame, with an average bust and waist. Has muscle and an athletic build. She has shoulder length beach blonde hair. It’s layered, normally pulled back in a ponytail. On occasion she’ll let it hang though. Her eyes are a beautiful baby blue speckled with sapphire. Wears nice jeans, baggy tees, and sneakers. She cleans up really nice, and dresses up when it suits her. Personality: Dawn is the ditsy one of the group, her blonde roots really coming out. She’s very shy when you first meet her. But once she gets used to you she’ll open up and be herself. If she considers you a friend then she has to know she can count on you in a jam. She believes in loyalty and can’t stand two-faced people. She’s got a loud, crazy nature that she doesn’t mind showing to those she’s close to. Considers her friends her closest of family, and treats them as such. Tends to act before she thinks which sometimes gets her into trouble. She’s kind of a pacifist, taking fighting as the last resort, and is always the peacemaker. Though that won’t stop her from defending herself and others. Dawn loves to read, mostly romance. She’s always up for a good movie or concert too. Loves country music and old rock. She adores monkeys and has a giant stuffed animal collection. Dawn can out-drink about any girl their age as well. Weapons: Best with hand-to-hand combat. Doesn’t carry any weapons. History: Dawn is an only child. She lived in the classic middle-class family. Her house was down the street from Shae so they became fast friends. They were inseparable growing up. Because of her home situation, Shae spent a good deal of time at Dawn’s house instead of her own. Shaeden received the love she needed most and in return Dawn learned to come out of her shell and about defending herself. When they entered middle-school the girls joined a gym where they studied self-defense, and numerous martial arts techniques. Extra: Kris- (22) healer Name: Shaeden (Shae) -_- wolfspirit292-_- Age: 20 Power: Elemental- control fire (control all elements) Description: 5’3” with a farmer’s tan. She has a small waist, average bust and hips, and womanly figure. Has a very toned build with a slight six pack. Her wavy hair is pitch black that falls in layers to her shoulder blades. She always wears it in a ponytail. Her eyes are a stunning royal blue that have been known to mesmerize anyone who stared too long. Is the brawler of the group and it shows in her dress. She wears faded blue jeans that are ripped up, tank tops (normally black), and black combat boots. Always has on her silver Celtic cross necklace. Occasionally she wears a pair of black leather finger-less gloves. Personality: Shaeden seems mysterious because of her looks and the way she acts. Others see her as a rebel and a brawler. She doesn’t really hang out or talk to many people. You have to earn her trust, but once you have it she’ll be a loyal friend. Her friends are the closest thing she has to a family. She’s always laughing about something or other. Doesn’t take kindly to being stabbed in the back, and won’t likely forget it. Shae’s a tough cookie and isn’t afraid to stand up for herself. Quick to jump to aid her friends. She doesn’t take crap from anyone, and can be very sarcastic. She’s confident, but feels as though a piece of herself is missing. She’s a pyromaniac, and loves wolves. She’s a bit of a bookworm. Is really into movies, music, and fast cars. Loves country and rock music. She can’t stand stupid people and often catches herself saying so. Weapons: Her special skill lies with hand-to-hand combat. She carries a Zippo lighter in her back pocket with a Celtic knot engraved on it. Also has a switchblade given to her on her sixteenth birthday from Rave. It has a howling wolf on the handle and she carries it sometimes as backup. History: Her mother died shortly after she was born. She lived in a middle-class home with her dad and two older brothers, Blaise (25), and Ashur (23). Her dad became a heavy drinker, leaving them to fend for themselves. Blaise was always the responsible one, taking care of his younger siblings. While Ash was rebellious of his brother’s authority. That left Shae in the middle most of the time. To escape she often found herself at Dawn’s house. Extra: Damien- (23) shadow walker Name: Mattie -_- slutsko07-_- Age: 21 Power: Seer- dreams of things that will happen the next day (sees events further into the future) Description: 5’8” with beige skin. She has an athletic, strong build. She’s got curvy hips, a small waist, and full chest. Her hair is a bright platinum blonde with red and chestnut highlights throughout. It’s strait and hangs all the way down to her butt. Always has her hair hanging long, but if she’s doing physical activities she braids it. Her eyes are a sparkling emerald green. She wears designer clothing- normally jeans, cute little tees, and Nike sneakers. Sometimes she wears shirts that show a bit of mid-drift and little skirts that are provocatively short. Personality: Mattie is a girly-girl. She was formerly a cheerleader but thankfully didn’t pick up their habits. Except for being slightly spoiled, but it never made her snobby. She plays basketball, which is the reason for her build. She’s a smart ass, but always finds a way to get out of trouble. She’s very open to everyone she meets and loves to party. Weapons: Best with ranged weaponry- especially archery. Doesn’t carry any weapons on her. Though she owns a Colt Anaconda that she keeps hidden in their dorm room. Has a specialized compound bow as well. History: Originally from California, her family moved out to Ohio at the end of their 8th grade year. Her families got big bucks, thanks to her dad who’s a business man for a large corporation. He’s away on business a lot and is rarely home, though their mom doesn’t seem to mind. She’s always been a complete daddy’s girl because he gives her everything she wants. She’s Rave’s twin sister, older than him by five minutes. Extra: Marc- (22) telekinetic Name: Rave -_- wrnewfy-_- Age: 21 Power: Time Manipulation- slow down time (stop time) Description: Rave is 6 foot tall. He’s a muscular guy with dark tanned skin, short brown hair, and dark mahogany eyes. He’s well toned, with defined abs. He has chiseled features, broad shoulders, and a commanding presence. He wears military fatigues and boots. He has a scar down the right side of his face that he won’t tell anyone about. Personality: He is serious but can pop off a joke or two at a good time. He likes to fight and doesn’t like to lose. If injured he’ll fight even harder. Weapons: Best with melee battle. He carries an assortment of knives at all times. He also owns a short sword. History: Rave is a cadet in the Marine ROTC. Mattie is his twin sister, though no one would guess since they look nothing alike and have completely different personalities. Unlike his sis, Rave is much closer to his mom. She doesn’t spoil him because he’s always found the need to be more independent. Although Mattie teases him by calling him a mamma’s boy, which he’s not. He has a troubled past that he doesn’t discus with anyone. ------------ ----- Let the Magic Begin ----- ------------ -_- Prologue -_- The chamber was darkened by shadows. The only light came from torches and fire pits scattered around. An inner fire burned within the catacombs, but the air was chilled. It was in this chamber, deep within the Dark Realm, that Arwan sat. His crimson eyes were scorching with rage and hate. Deceit filled his heart, frozen and spiteful. The aura around him was choked with all things wicked. But the so-called Lord of the Underworld was eerily beautiful. Every attribute deadly. Chiseled features accented broad shoulders and defined muscles. His flawless bronze skin accented his firm gaze. Ebony hair pulled into a ponytail at the nape of his neck, fell over the expensive silk material of his shirt. And with the snap of his fingers, he could reign Hell upon Earth. A Gate Guard entered the throne room, jaw set, eyes ablaze. “What?” Arwan barked. He was in no mood to have visitors. He just sought a quiet place to think. “Milord,” the guard said, bowing his head slightly. “The Council is set to convene. They will await your presence in the Great Hall.” He bowed deeply, dismissed with a simple gesture from the Lord. The doors to the throne room echoed as they once again shut out the rest of the world. It was time to discuss the very subject that made him brood. The fate of his people, the demons and other evil beings of the Dark Realm, was being tested up above. Humans. A bunch of humans were trying to outsmart, outmaneuver him? Him? The Lord of Darkness himself? It was almost laughable. But mostly it was irritating. How dare they even attempt such a task? They were pathetic to think this little organization of theirs was going to amount to anything. Especially when he was through with them… Arwan stood from his throne, walking down the obsidian steps. He clasped his hands behind his back, starting to pace. That always helped him to think. His movements were sharp, yet fluid. It was the liquid grace of a cat, with all its craftiness included. Arwan paused in his contemplating to acknowledge the other presence in the room. He had been slinking about in the shadows, studying the Lord with curious eyes. “Come,” Arwan beckoned him to his side. “We have a lot of work to do. It’s time to meet with the Council.” |
A bottle was thrown into the fire and it sparked upward into the night sky. The bonfire was warm in the cool fall weather. It was the beginning of a new semester and it was time to celebrate. Another bottle found its way into the fire. When more debris scattered the small group laughed. “You know,” Shaeden mentioned, “you’re not supposed to burn glass.” With that said she tossed her own bottle to the flames. Her companions grinned, laughing again as they started their second round. They were sprawled out on the grass. They’d made camp in a clearing of the woods behind Mattie’s house. Dawn passed around the Smirnoff’s. It was all the girls ever drank, with the exception of the occasional Mike’s Hard Lemonade. “Watermelon,” Mattie smiled. “My fave.” “Got any Green Apple?” Shae asked. Dawn tossed her the winecooler, opening an Orange for herself. “Cheers.” The girls giggled, holding up their bottles to a chorus of “cheers.” Flipping on the portable radio they brought, Shae switched it over to the country station. Mattie groaned, getting a sharp smack from Dawn. “Deal with it chicka.” “Slut,” Shaeden added. “Whore,” Mattie retorted before taking a long pull from the bottle. The girls were getting into their third bottles when someone stepped into the glow of their camp. Rave’s jaw was firmly set, eyes sparkling the reflection of the fire. Mattie moaned again. “You? What, come to ruin the party?” Her twin brother growled a bit. “Are you guys drinking again?” Shae kicked the cooler behind the one filled with food. “Us?” she replied innocently. Dawn chuckled from her place on the ground. “Want one?” Rave wasn‘t budging, nor did he say a word. But the look on his face told all. He didn’t find it amusing. Shae, in attempt to break the ice as always, jumped to her feet. She stood in front of him, towered over by his muscled form. “Come on. Stay the night with us. You haven’t hung out with us all week.” “We’ve been in classes,” he pointed out. Shaeden smiled. “Which is exactly why you need to spend the weekend with us.” She grabbed his hand, dragging him toward the fire. Rave’s body gave and she heard him sigh in defeat. “No,” Mattie began to protest. “But Shae cut her off. “Yes. Your brother’s staying.” “He ain’t sleeping in my tent,” she protested. “Then me and him will take my tent, and you and Dawn can have the other.” Conflict settled, Shaeden forced Rave to sit, joining the group by the fire. She knew better than to offer him a Smirnoff, so she threw him a can of Coke and started up a conversation. “What d’you think of that Professor Greer? She’s a little on the freaky side, ain’t she?” This was followed by a series of confirmations and other declarations of what they thought of their new teachers. Only the first week of their second year at Ohio State and they were complaining. Obviously the year would be an interesting one. “Yo, Pyro,” Mattie spoke up. “The fire’s dying.” Shaeden got up, tossing her bottle in the fire. It shattered, creating a tiny explosion with the little remaining alcohol inside. “No pyrotechnics tonight, alright?” Dawn joked. Shaeden punched her shoulder as she passed. It was off into the forest to get more wood. Within seconds she knew she had a tag-along too. Rave, her ever-present shadow if she went off alone. She never even bothered to tease him about not doing that to his sister anymore. She’d learned that he’d let Mattie get “eaten by ravaged wolves,” or so he said on many occasions. The pair kept at an even pace, combing the darkness for dry wood. As they searched, Rave caught himself gazing at Shae awhile. The moonlight coming through the trees illuminated her shape and made his eyes trace her curves. Shaeden was so different from other life-long friends. Dawn was 5’5” with fair skin. She had a small frame, with an average bust and waist. Yet she was strong and built athletically like the others. Her hair was shoulder length beach blonde, layered and pulled into a ponytail normally. Her eyes were a beautiful baby blue speckled with sapphire. She wore nice jeans, baggy tees, and sneakers. The middle ground between the girls of feminine and tom-boy, she had a unique beauty. And his sister… well Mattie was a completely different story. Shae was special in his eyes. She was slightly shorter than Dawn with a farmer’s tan. Her figure was shapely, curvy in all the right places. She was also very toned, having a slight six pack. He watched the way the moonbeams played with her ebony hair. It fell in layers to her shoulder blades, always back in a high ponytail. Her clothes pinged her ass the brawler of the group- always ripped-up faded blue jeans, tank tops that were mostly black, and black combat boots. She also never went anywhere without her Celtic cross necklace, and occasionally wore a pair of black leather finger-less gloves. With arms full of wood, Shaeden looked up to see Rave watching her. He caught her gaze- eyes a stunning royal blue that almost glowed in the dim light. She smiled at him, jerking her head back toward the camp. Between the two of them, there’d be enough wood to last them the night. As they walked, she noticed Rave watching the shadows now instead of he. This made her study him. It was funny how Mattie and he were. For twins they acted nothing alike and you wouldn’t even believe they were siblings. 5’8” with beige skin, she had the typical athletic build. Her form was shapely with a small waist, and full chest. Her hair was a bright platinum blonde with red and chestnut highlights throughout. It was strait, hanging all the way down to her butt, only braiding it for physical activities. Her eyes were a sparkling emerald green. She always wore designer clothing- normally jeans, cute little tees, and Nike sneakers. Sometimes she wore shirts that revealed a bit of mid-drift and little skirts that were provocatively short. Now Rave, he was massive compared to the trio of women he frequented with. Rave was a 6 foot tall, hunk of muscle. His skin was naturally dark like his Italian roots. His short hair was chestnut, and his eyes a dark mahogany. He was well toned, with defined abs, and broad shoulders. He had chiseled features, and a commanding presence. He wore military fatigues and boots, being a member of the Marine ROTC. He also had a mysterious scar down the right side of his face that he never talked about. They entered the clearing, hearing the hysterical laughter from their friends. “How much did you have to drink?” Rave demanded, dropping the wood into a pile. Mattie replied in between laughs, “five.” “I’m behind,” Shae joked. This got her a sharp glare from Rave. She dropped the wood, holding her hands up. “Kidding, chill.” He did and she sighed. “Geez, you know I limit myself to two. I don’t get trashed.” “Shouldn’t even get buzzed,” he muttered. But of course he knew it would do no good to argue. He shook his head at the girls, plopping onto the ground facing the fire. Shaeden got to work building the fire, while listening to the stupid things they were talking about. It was mostly about dumb movies they repeatedly watched, Super Troopers and Eurotrip mainly. She started laughing with them, though Rave didn’t join in. He just watched her throw wood on the fire. Then, using her powers, she made it catch in an instant. The fire roared back to life, spreading a burst of light through the glade. The girls howled with excitement, delighted by the growing warmth. “Touch down Pope!” Mattie quoted. Dawn hoped on board, saying, “We don’t need no muthafuckin’ water, let the damn thing burn.” The two girls jumped up, starting to dance idiotically around the fire. All the while they started to sing “Scotty Doesn’t Know,” from Eurotrip. Shae laughed, shaking her head. But she couldn’t help but join in. Their laughter twisted upward to the moonlit sky, unaware of the adventures that lay before them the next day. - _ - _ - The late morning sun woke the friends. Shaeden was the first to crawl out of her tent, followed closely by Rave. “Come on,” she pleaded. “You gotta come to the fair with us today.” The fair week had begun and it was the highlight of their hometown. It was a redneck’s paradise, and being who they were, Dawn and Shae were in heaven there. When Mattie and Rave had moved to their small town in Jr. High, they’d been completely out of the loop. They were rich Californians, not knowing a thing about country life. Mattie especially stood out, with her flare for fashion and cultured mannerisms. Rave had an easier time blending in with his punkish looks and quiet nature. The twins had settled in a lot better once they ran into Dawn and Shaeden… literally ran into, that is. Mattie had always been a klutz, and having not been watching where she was going had collided head first with Dawn, knocking both of them to the ground. Shae had let fly with some choice words to the new girl, stopping short when she spotted Rave, who even then was massive compared to his classmates. The meeting had ended awkwardly, both groups going their own way. But the next day Dawn and Mattie got to talking, roughly around the same time as Shae and Rave. It turned out they all had a lot in common and they became fast friends… especially after learning they were all… unique. Shaeden, from the time she was small, knew she could start fires, manipulate it’s flames. A lot of the time it ended horribly, but as she grew she learned how to control it. Dawn’s powers had developed after a particularly interesting cold. Every time she sneezed she apparated- disappeared then reappeared- to another place in the room. Though she didn’t require sneezing to work her powers it was a challenge to try and use them correctly. Mattie had been having dreams since she was small- though most of the time their meanings were unknown. As she aged she figured out a recurring pattern. Whatever she dreamed had somehow occurred the following day, though sometimes she didn’t dream at all. If her problems growing up hadn’t been weird enough, Rave had been constantly running around like a blur. At first they simply thought he could run super fast, but then they figured out that he could slow time with the blink of an eye. With so much strangeness surrounding their lives, the four became practically inseparable throughout the years. And though they all had their differences, the bond they created back then was strong and true. “Alright, I’ll come,” Rave gave into her persistence. Shaeden grinned. “You know you’ll have fun. You always do.” Since they’d become friends, Dawn and she had been taking the siblings to the fair every year. They’d taught them how to fit in with their little town and soon they had felt right at home. Rave smirked at Shae. “Are you gonna try and make me win you something again this year?” She looked at him innocently. “I don’t have any idea what you’re talking about.” “Is it morning yet?” someone groaned from inside the other tent. The flap opened to reveal Dawn, hung over and tired. “Yup,” Shae replied cheerfully. “Come on. We’re goin’ to the fair.” Dawn moaned, plopping back down on the ground. “Wake me in another hour…” A small fire spark zapped on the ground in front of her. Dawn was startled into apparating. She disappeared in a sparkling puff of blue, reappearing in front of Shaeden, glaring. Shaeden just grinned cheekily at her friend, patting her on the shoulder. “You love me.” “That’s the only reason you’re not dead now,” she replied, punching her arm. Hearing the commotion, Mattie joined them, yawning and stumbling out of the tent. “What happened now?” “She started it,” Dawn and Shae replied together. Rave rolled his eyes at the trio, starting to grab all their stuff. “If we’re goin’ to the fair, I suggest we start getting to it. I don’t want to stay till closing this year.” “Always the whiner,” Shae sighed jokingly. - _ - _ - Dawn and Mattie hoped from ride to ride, now full of energy. Rave and Shaeden simply watched from the ground, not so eager to throw-up their lunch as their friends. “Come on!” Dawn gave her friend a pouty face. She just shook her head. “Shaeden stays on the ground.” “Party-pooper,” Mattie replied, dragging Dawn off to go on the Fury. Shae and Rave just stood around, really nothing better to do than chat. “So, having fund?” she asked. He shrugged. “’Bout as much as normal.” She hit his shoulder gently with hers. “Lighten up.” This made him smirk a bit. “Alright. Just for you.” She smiled at him, before glancing across the aisle. Shae spotted a game, then the prizes, and her smile grew. Rave followed her gaze. “Uh oh,” he joked. “Come on, you gotta win me a Care Bear.” She grabbed his hand, dragging him over. It was a shooting game where you had to shoot out an entire star pattern from about five yards away. They got 100 rounds to completely remove the star from the paper, not a scrap remaining. And those Care Bears were so cute. Shaeden had a soft spot for them. She even had a nice collection of them she’d started back in high school. Though not many people knew about them, considering she didn’t advertise it. Only her group knew, seeing how it was girly and all. Rave sighed, but gave in. His specialty lay with blades, but guns were a close second. His sister was a sure shot with a bow, and most of the time guns as well. Mattie would probably be able to win if he possibly failed. Dawn and Shae would be practically useless. They were the brawlers of the group. Whereas Dawn used more disciplined forms of martial arts, Shaeden was more the street fighter type. Rave passed the money over to the game operator, before picking up the gun. He took a moment to analyze the barrel for anything that would affect the aim. Satisfied, he placed the butt to his shoulder, taking careful aim. Shaeden’s mouth hung open as he traced the outline of the star perfectly, and then shot out the center. Finally, using the remaining rounds, he cut the target paper off the clasp. The operator was obviously just as surprised. Rave smirked, setting the gun back down. “So. What do I win?” This broke the operator out of his shock. “You get choice, man.” Rave turned to Shae. She was looking at the array of Care Bears, ignoring the other stuffed animals completely. She had almost settled on the big purple-blue Daydream Bear, but then she spotted a large animal next to it. It was a beautiful grey and black wolf. Its amber eyes seemed to be looking up at her, and she grinned. Wolves were her favorite animal and she couldn’t resist. “I want that one.” The guy passed it over as Rave gave her a knowing look. “You’re going to make me get you that bear later, aren’t you?” She smirked, cuddling the big wolf. “You know me too well.” - _ - _ - So, these were the children. The Keepers of Darkness. They certainly didn’t seem to be the things legends were made of. In fact, they simply looked to be ordinary kids. Just common humans. But Lord Arwan couldn’t be wrong, could he? Surely if he knew the Time of Shadows had come then he would be correct. He alone held the insight and power to sense the changes on Earth. Even in the deepest regions of Hell he would be able to feel the energy of something so big. If these were truly the harbingers they waited for, then he would see it was done. But for now, the Lord awaited his return. The humans would have to wait… |
Back at the fair Dawn and Mattie were still jumping around from ride to ride. "This is so much fun, for being in the country." "Hey now be nice." Dawn snapped back It was 12.30 p.m Dawn and Mattie were waiting in line for the Music Express. They would be the next set to go one. When it was their turn they picked the blue car. The ride had ended and Dawn and Mattie got up and walked towards the exit. As they were walking down the ramp Dawn tripped. She had two options. She could A. fall and be embarrassed or B. risk exposure and apparate. Dawn decide to apparate. When she landed she was right in a mans arms. Not the place she had in mind. She was thinking the bathroom but, hey he was HOT. “Oh sorry about that” Dawn mumbled as she was standing. “That’s ok. Are you alright?” He asked. The man was about 6 feet tall. He had blond hair and the prettiest green eyes Dawn had ever seen. He was really built, you could tell he worked out. “I’m fine, I meant to do that.” Dawn started to walk away feeling really stupid how was she supposed to explain to him a mortal how she just appeared in his arms. “So do you usally apparate in guys arms and don’t give them your name?” “Hey don’t say that out lound.” After the words left her mounth she asked her self how did he now that she apparated. “How did you know”She asked. “ I am a healer.” “A what”. “I cure witches when they are hurt” “Oh. See I just got my powers 2 years ago and I don’t know everything yet.” “What is you name?” “ Sorry, I am Dawn” When he heard her name his heart dropped. Could this be the same girl that him and Marc were supposed to find and save? Could it be possible that someone would want to kill such a sweet and lovable person. He bearly knew her but, already had deep feelings for Dawn. “Dawn there you are. I was so worried when you….. ugh who is this? “Oh this is my new friend Kris he caught me when I apparated. “Sush don’t say that out loud! “He knows he asked me about it. He is a….. Shea and Rafe came walking up at that point. Shea had a “Blue” care bear in her hands. “There you are Dawn. Mattie called when you two got separated”. Sheaden was careful of her words looking at Kris. “Shea and Rafe this is Kris, I was just telling Mattie that he is a Healer.” “Oh, they all three said in unison. “Hey Shea where did you get that care bear?” asked dawn. “ Rafe won it fir me.” ”Oh” “Hey ladies, I think we should talk, do you mind if I go with you?” Berfore they could think about Dawn shouted “Sure you can.” Maybe you can win me a care bear!” “Um…” “Please Rafe got Shea one!!!!!” |
