Co-write story with a friend of mine.
[Introduction]
Elizabeth March jolted awake as the train began to slow, brakes squealing. She straightened in her seat, smoothing out the skirt of her dress before pulling her bag close in preparation for disembarking.
“Miss March, we’re…” The conductor stopped. “I see that you’re already ready.”
“I am. Thank you, Mr. Chase.” He smiled at her, holding onto the back of a seat to keep his balance as the engine finally brought the train screeching to a halt at the Hope Ford station. Mr. Chase picked up her bag the other case containing her belongings from the rack over her head and led her off to the platform. She thanked him again and he left her standing by the benches in front of the ticket office after she reassured him once more that someone would be meeting her.
The young woman waited until he and the train had started down the track before she took a deep breath. For the past five years she had spent back East among the hustle and bustle of the “civilized” people and now she was back home in the dusty, primitive but open town of Hope Ford. After growing up here, watching it grow from a few shanties on the prairie, the city had felt claustrophobic.
“Lizzie?” She turned towards the voice that had called her by her childhood nickname. A grizzled old man stood by the steps to the platform beside a worn farm wagon. Elizabeth smiled, gathering her skirts.
“J. Johnny!” His face broke out in a grin.
“You’ve grown into a fine young lady. I’m afraid to hug you for fear that you’ll break.” She laughed, hurrying down the steps to wrap her arms around him, breathing in the comforting scents of prairie grass and leather that clung to his clothes. Johnny had been employed by her father for ages and was like a grandfather to her. “Let’s get your bags on the wagon and get you home, your father had been overjoyed about your return. He’s with a patient at the moment but he asked me to have a late dinner ready.”
“You must be happy to see me, before I left here I’d barely hear you string three words together.” Johnny sheepishly pulled his hat down over his face and went to get her bags.
Heat lightning flashed overhead as they drove down Main Street, illuminating their way better than any lantern. Elizabeth watched the show with delight, then her smile faded as she focused her sight on the crest of the hill that led down into town. A dark shape moved over the dirt. It moved like a horse and rider but the dim light provided by the lightning seemed to reveal a figure that was blockier and sharper than any horse could ever be.
“Do you see that?” Johnny looked in that direction, squinting a little. A particularly bright flash illuminated the shape further, revealing an assortment of weapons hanging in various holsters on the saddle but the rider was still cloaked from any recognition by the heavy coat he wore and the hat pulled low over his face.
“Yes.” He clucked to the horse, pushing it to a trot until they were safely inside the gate of her father’s stable. “Go inside, I’ll bring your bags in after I put up the horse.” Hoofbeats sounded, coming closer and closer in such a quick pace that Johnny was reaching for his pistol until a familiar brown and white splotched mare carried an equally familiar man into the lantern light.
“Papa!” Hope Ford’s doctor barely had time to dismount and pass the reins to his foreman before Elizabeth threw herself into his arms.
Sun shined on the Open Planes, looking at the rolling dry bushes and creeping critters on the ground. These vast fruitless lowlands were cruel and demanding, cursed long time ago, abandoned even longer ago, the domain of Indian pagan gods and sanctuary for demons. Heat and dry air were the only companions of the foolish travel dared to venture in these grey-brownish lands by horse. If the sun usually smirked when it saw a horseman here, it would be smirking right now. He was tall and very brawny, The man wore a big white sombrero hat, that had an even bigger black coat to go with it. He wore brown shotgun chaps over his blue trousers, dark brown roper boots, metal spurs. His pure black stallion, which he called Rex was big and well-bred, was a powerful beast, that could carry well, its master and the heavy 7 weapons that hang on the saddle. The horseman was steadily moving through the hell-heat of the dessert-like grounds and was now coming to a hill. On its top the stranger could see a crest.
"Finally!" he whispered as if to his horse as he drew the reins. The horse stopped with a neigh. "Alright, Rex, just a little longer, and we can both have a bit of rest."

-_-_-_-

As he got off his horse, dust rose in the air. The stranger had finally reached the town of Hope Ford. He had found the cheapest bar could- the one below the whore-house. He roped Rex to a water tub so he could quench his thirst and got in the bar. His heavy body made the floor-boards beneath him creak in agony, as his metal spurs jingled sharply. He went through the door, neglecting the snoopy, sheepish look the locals gave him, crossed over three poker tables, giving a quick grin on the odds of some fool that was going all in. He stopped in front of the bar, slamming a ten dollar bill on the wood. The barman didn't even ask. He quickly reached beneath the bar and took out a bottle of whiskey and a shot glass. The stranger took the bottle and raised it a couple of times, gulping the nasty liquide down his dry throat, letting one thought through his head: "Hey, you live only once."

"Well, stranger, you seem quite thirsty." said the bartender with a raised brow. No answer."You know we've had all sorts, but not one as strange as you." continued the barman. The stranger stood up and left the barman staring.

"Ya'kn'w, strang'r you've ta' balls drink big." said a man sitting on a corner table. "Wonder if'ya got balls ta' play big!" he continued spreading a deck of cards with one hand.
Having lived in Hope Ford all my life I knew what kind of girl all the lowlife skum wanted when they stepped into the bar. I sat it in a darkened corner of the room watching people as they drank cheap whiskey and played cards at a table nearby. The other girls worked the room taking what money they could from men to drunk to notice. Making sure they men were happy and taken care of.
"Minnie why are you hiding?" Sally said pulling my sleeve. We don't get paid to sit, if Ernie sees you he'll flip."
I gently shooed her away. I hated being a whore but if I had to I would chose my own marks. I wasn't exactly pretty anyway most guys went for girls like Sally. She was all sorts of woman with all the curves a guy could ask for. While I was just a tiny little thing not enough meat on my bones is what one guy had said.
I was better at picking pockets any way.
I got a cold chill as a stranger walked in. I hope he wasn't looking for a fight, that is what most strangers do when they get to town that an loose all their money at poker. Men huh.

Nathan March held his only daughter for a few moments before holding her out at arm’s length to get a better look at her in the lantern light.

“Did your mother actually manage to turn you into a proper lady?” Elizabeth carefully reached up to where her sandy brown hair was bound in a bun at the base of her neck. When she’d left years earlier it had been streaked with highlight and had tumbled freely down her back in waves. He smiled sadly. “You look so much like your mother now.” She smiled, slipping back into his arms.

“I know you miss her. She still loves you but she enjoys the city life with many social events. The Wild West is too tame for her for that reason. I’m more like my father; I love the fresh air and all the space that can only be found here.” Nathan chuckled as he retrieved his doctor’s bag from his horse’s saddle before guiding Elizabeth inside for supper and more catching up.
"Dooooc?" a shout came from the outside. "Dooc? Heeelp!!!!" someone was slamming on the door. March rose from his seat curtly and went out. His first thought had been, why did it have to be now, when his daughter had just come. As he got on his front porch he looked in amazement as James and Duke Whitesmith stood in front of him, Duke holding his shivering left hand, his face filled with fear, agony and anger at the same time, covered in snot and blood, as he gave out short whimpering sounds.

"What, for Pity's sake. happened to you, boy?" asked Nathan. He knew Duke since he had been a little boy. He was the mischievous one of the duo. Being smarter than most folk in town, he loved making pranks and fun of people, that is why the brothers were always in trouble, but it had never been as seriously looking as now.

" Some stranger in Ernie's whorehouse broke his fingers." said James. He was the hot head. Now that the town doctor looked closer at the other brother, he had a fresh blue eye. " All Duke did was take the fucker's hat off. It looked stupid on him anyway." said the youngster making gestures showing how big the hat was.

" You two never learn do you. You are lucky that you got away with a shiner and he with a broken finger. He could have shot you, you idiots!" said Nathan as he took a look at the fingers.

"Daad? What's...?" came Elizabeth's voice from the inside as she came through the door. " James? Duke? Is that you guys?" she said in a surprise.

"Oh, my God! Is that you, Lizy?" shouted Duke loudly. A smile suddenly appeared in the brothers' faces. Duke suddenly became flushed, and quickly wiped the snot from his nose. Elizabeth ran towards the boys and gave both of them a hug. They had been friends from the first time they met, and Duke had been madly in love with her ever since.

"Alright, Duke, come with me inside, let's get those fingers fixed. I think you will be able to use them." the doctor said.

"What happened to you guys?" asked Elizabeth in horror as she saw the younger brother's hand.

" Ah, just slammed my hand in the door knob." said Duke with a smile. Elizabeth laughed back as if she had actually believed the lie, but Nathan knew she was smarter than that.

" Yes, Ernie's door is quite dangerous sometimes." said Mr. March with a devilish smile as he pushed Duke inside.

"Hey!" said the youngster.

" You guys were at Earnie's...? said Elizabeth, looking at James in surprise. The older brother turned his head away from her, shame filling his guts, stomach quivering. He felt a wound opening.

-_-_-_-

" Why did you tell her?" shouted Duke.

" She was going to find out anyway. She ain't stupid." said the doctor as he looked at the fingers once again. " Interesting, whoever did this to you, he was careful. If he had bent the fingers a little more backwards and you would've had to say goodbye to drinking booze with that hand." said Nathan.

" Don't give me that crap, doc."

" Hey, watch that filthy mouth of yours. This is a God's house. And don't use that language in front of my daughter either." he said as he looked at him sharply. The youngster bent his head in apology and whimpered a sorry. " You tried to fix them!" he continued as he observed the fingers and moved it a bit, ignoring his whining. " Sloppy job, Duke, very sloppy." he said and pulled the fingers, fixing them in place. Whitesmith gave out a loud shout and hit the table with the other hand, spelling blasphemy. " Alright you go back home now, Duke, and give trouble a rest for a couple of days."

-_-_-_-

" Jesus, Christ, Man! shouted one of men on the table. The stranger had been wining six times in a role and now was his seventh. " Ya can't be that lucky."

" Are you calling me a cheater?" said the stranger, looking at him sharply. The table, no, the whole room turned silent as the old man started shivering. This same silence had covered the room, half an hour ago, when some youngsters had arrived and with noisy laughs and bad jokes had stirred the guys in a red-neck euphoria. Slapping the girls by the butts and giving them kisses, they resembled kids to the stranger. Then they had come to his table. Introducing and familiarizing, they started hugging people, but when they saw the stranger and took his hat off that is when suddenly laughs turned into fright. With a single hand he had lifted one of them and slammed him on the table and then with the same hand had punched the other one unconscious. Then single-handedly had broken the fingers on one of his hands, one by one, then kicked them out. No one in the room had dared to do a single move then, and now was the same case. The old bump was sweating, not being able to answer.

" No, I... just that..." whimpered the old man.

" It's alright. Here, I'll let you get your money back. If you win this next turn, I give you back your money." he said as he shuffled the cards. The guys on the table stood up and got back. "But if you loose I'll send you to the doctor." said the stranger. He dealt the cards and dealt the five cards faced up. " I've got two aces." continued the stranger.

"I've got three kings." said the old man frightened , not knowing if he was lucky or dead.

"See, it's all about luck." said the stranger and returned the old man's money. Everyone took a breathe and the other players got back on the table.

" Stranger?! You are something else." said one of the girls. She was tall and slender. A little too fat in the butt and breasts but for most men here that was how they liked it. She took a step towards him and bent over to him, shoving a voluptuous bosom in his face. "All cards down, huh, Sally?" snickered dirtily the men on the table.

"Here, buy me and the boys two bottles of that piss that bartender calls whiskey." said the stranger, putting it in her hands. What Sally always knew was that men could not get their eyes off her breasts, but this stranger was looking her in the eyes, emitting warmth that made her melt from inside, as if he was wheeling gently his metal spurs down her spine, a prickly, strange feeling, unknown to her. She left, without even giving a thought to the men that slapped her butt on her way to the bar.

" What d'ya think you're doin', ya bitch! I ain't payin' ya ta sit around." a shout came from the other corner of the room. The bartender was shouting at one of the other girls that seemed to be taking a break.

" Hey!" shouted the stranger. " Come here!" he said waving to her.

"Well, go on." said Ernie, lifting her by her arm.

" I can stand up on my own." she said as she pulled her hand. She walked to the table and stood in front of the stranger, waiting as if for a command. The stranger let his gazes slide down her slender body and smiled. " What?" she asked sharply.

" You have balls, for something that is lighter than my dog." he said, all the men on the table gave out a loud laugh.

" Strange, you don't look like the animal loving type." she said giving a mischievous smile. Everyone turned towards the stranger.

"Come, sit here, and see how much an animal lover I am." continued the stranger, tapping his lap. The girl took a chair and sat down next to him. He smiled even wider. During the rest of the evening he did not take any notice to her, except when he poured her whiskey, which was a sign of his approval of her. " Which is your room?" he said when the time for closing had come and the last of the drunk players left.

"The last one upstairs." she said calmly. She was a bit drunk. Another thing that he approved in her is that unlike the rest of the girls she could hold her liquor and keep pace with the big boys.

"Lead the way." he said. As they got in the room he turned her around. " Take my clothes off." he said with a commanding voice. Minie took a step backwards. She had expected that he would want her, but something like this was a first to her. She took hold of his huge coat and slowly pushed it backwards letting it fall on the ground. He had a cheap white shirt on with a strange pendant on his neck. A circle with two fangs piercing it in the lower right and left side. Her hands started unbuttoning his shirt. Suddenly her right hand moved towards his pendant, her forefinger gently caressing the circle.

" It's beautiful." she said looking at the stranger's eyes. They were cold and lonely. It made her wonder what his life was like. He raised his hands and she took his shirt off. There were scars covering his whole body. It was muscular and well shaped, but not massive. He was more slender, his muscles bulging out. Her fingers slowly slid down his skin causing a shiver or two. Her eyes again looked at his, noticing that he had been looking at her face the whole time. Her cheeks flushed for some reason, but she quickly took control, as she kneed down and took his boots off. She unbuttoned his pants and took them off. In this position, many men would make her give them pleasure with her mouth, but he stood this way emotionless all over, and an embarrassing silence took over the room. She could hear her heart beat as his hand reached for her face. She felt his finger on her chin.

"Rise!" he said. She obeyed quickly, without even thinking. " Now I will strip you." he said calmly. He reached for her back and with a simple gesture loosened the laces of her gown. Then with a gentle pull downwards, the dress fell to the floor. He knew how to take a dress off- so few men could nowadays. He got on one knee as he started taking her pants off. The situation seemed so absurd she did not know what to do as he rose up. He went to the bed, letting her follow him and lied down. " Join me." he said rising a hand. She tucked in quickly, lying down on him, face-to-face. They stood like that a few moments, as she realized that he did not want sex from her.

He had been a whole week in the desert, burning in the sun's heat and freezing at the lonely nights. He only needed body warmth and the pleasant smell of a woman. She soon laid her head on his chest, as he finally closed his eyes, allowing himself to go to sleep.
I woke up snuggled warmly next to the stranger. He had seemed so lonely, something I felt often but never admitted to anyone. Wondering what his name was but unwilling to wake him I stayed as still as I could. I felt oddly safe and warm.
He confused me when he just wanted someone to cuddle. I would've gladly done more for him if he asked.
I let my mind wander as I snuggled with the large stranger. I thought of how I got myself into this mess to begin with.
I had no family they all died before I was old enough to remember them. My uncle took care of me until I was old enough for him to start getting funny ideas. I ran away but, having nowhere to go I found myself scrounging for enough money just to feed myself.
That's when I met Ernie and Sally. They said they could give me a place to stay and food to eat. All I had to do was be a whore to pay my way. At first I was bullied and taken advantage of, but I learned quick. I could pick pockets and get men drunk enough to think we had sex. I just finished them by hand and they never noticed.
I hate people, they always want something from you. Men were all the same, disgusting pigs.
Except the stranger she was in bed with. If only she could stay here with him a while longer.

Elizabeth hummed to herself as she drove into town. She would have preferred to ride, but her Eastern dresses weren’t made for the Western climate. Her first stop was at Paul’s General Store. When she hitched her mare out front, she paused to look at the colorful storefront, so different from the clapboard building that had sat in its place years ago. For a moment, the town that she remembered was superimposed over the one right before her eyes. Elizabeth shook the image away, gathering her skirts and going inside.

An hour later she emerged with Paul by her side carrying her packages for her. After showing him where to put them, she gave him a hug. Paul, a large man with salt-and-pepper hair, smiled at her.

“It’s so good to see you, Miss Elizabeth. If you need any patterns feel free to call on my wife, she would love to see you and hear about all those Eastern styles.” Elizabeth laughed.

“I will do my best. Thank you, Paul.” When he finally went back inside, she started to get back in the buggy but stopped when her gaze fell on the crooked sign across the road that read ‘Ernie’s.’ Putting her foot back down, she patted her mare on the flank, gathered her skirts and crossed the road.

The interior of the building was dark and smoky. Fighting the tickle in the back of her throat that urged her to cough, the young woman looked around. Several patrons stared her way but her back was straight and she didn’t slink out in shame under their gazes. One of the ladies recognized her and she tried to slip out before she was spotted. Even in the dim light, Elizabeth’s eyes zeroed in on her.

“Lottie?” Charlotte froze halfway through the door and came back inside. Silky red curls tumbled over her bare shoulders as she crossed the floor. She was a petite creature, haunting blue eyes looking out of a solemn face up to the taller girl. Elizabeth took a deep breath and frowned. “When did he get ahold of you?” She whispered.

“Excuse me?” Elizabeth gently guided her into the back room.

“When did that bloodsucker Ernie turn you?” Charlotte’s eyes widened and she covered her mouth in surprise.

“How did you know?”

“My nose works just as well as yours does and I actually think to use it.” She smiled, tapping her old best friend lightly on the nose. “Just remember, you were bound to me before he ever laid a hand on you.” Charlotte frowned in contemplation as she gazed down at her hand the small scar there from where they’d sworn to be ‘blood sisters’ long ago. “You probably saw the stranger last night, where did he go?”

“He stayed here in Minie’s room.” She caught Elizabeth’s gaze and read the question written there. “Upstairs, last room.”

“Think about who you truly owe your loyalty. If you see fit, go see my father and tell him about our blood bond, he’ll protect you from Ernie.” Without another word, Elizabeth left and stalked upstairs. Outside the door she paused, sorting through the scents that clung to the worn wood. One in particular stuck out from the rest, kindred to her father’s. Now she understood and that understanding sparked her protective instincts. It didn’t matter that she hadn’t lived her for some time; this was still her town to protect. Her hands shook slightly as she tried to restrain her emotion as she touched the doorknob. With one smooth motion, she shoved it open.

“I don’t know who you are but you clearly don’t know the proper way our kind do things.” Her green eyes were slitted with feline pupils and her canines had sharpened into points. She glared at the man lying on the bed, not paying any mind to the fact that he was naked. Her inner cat at the forefront, she overlooked the equally nude woman by his side. The urge to shift completely and teach this intruder the perils of invading her territory was strong but she barely clung to her humanity.

((She has alpha pheromones leaking all over. I think he should have some instinctual respect for her coupled with his unwillingness to hit a woman?))

His mind was wondering in this morning. He was not one to keep one's thoughts pulse without control, but while he was in bed with this young girl, the stranger felt mysteriously calm. It was not that she had some great beauty or fascinating fragrance, neither did she have some magical qualities. He felt attracted to her very existence, as if he had been walking through all the deserts and freezing nights to find her, and perhaps some peace of mind. Although his eyes were closed he felt compelled to wrap his hands around her.

" Morning." he greeted her. Her eyes widened as she realized that he had hugged her, A mumble came from her in response but he ignored it. " My name is Dorian. I hope you slept well." he continued.

" Mollie." she answered.

" Come again?" his eyebrows shifted,

" My name... it's Mollie." she repeated raising her head to him. Silence took over the room, and awkward thoughts came to her as she shifted her towards him. Suddenly the door slammed opened.

“ I don’t know who you are but you clearly don’t know the proper way our kind do things." a voice came from the corridor as a young lady came in. She was a well-shaped thing, with a beautiful dress and courtly manners of a true aristocrat. But underneath all the cloth and fluff he recognized the feline that was bursting to get free. Mollie rose quickly in response, flustered in surprise but speechless as she saw the girl's appearance slowly shifting into cat.

" What...?" a word came from her as she turned towards Dorian, only to find that he was going through the same transformation.

" Boo!" his voice had an inhuman tembre as his amber eyes drew near her face. She fainted as her nerves were not able to last against the horrifying sight. He wrapped her naked body in the bedclothes and turned towards the lady that had entered unexpectedly. " Well, I knew that I would get someone's attention, but I didn't know that this town had so much more to hide." he said as he rose.

" What do you mean?" asked the girl ignoring the fact he was completely naked.

" Usually I would be lucky to find a vampire in a town, let alone a werewolf." he said as he put on his pants with his back towards her. He reached for his huge coat and took out a small box from it. " But to find fellow kindred is REALLY rare." he continued as he took out a pipe from the box and started filling it with weed.

" That doesn't mean you can go around and break people's fingers." she said as he light his pipe and started puffing, looking through the window of the small stuffy room. His animalistic appearance started disappearing.

" Oh, that, well, the boys needed to be taught a lesson." his voice had become normal again. He heard the steps almost instantly and turned towards the the girl that had leaped towards him with sharpened claws, puffing a huge gust of smoke in her feline face. She grabbed her neck and started coughing as she fell on the ground. " Dol weed!" he started talking to her as she turned her face towards him. It had started to turn human already. " You know, in Ireland they used to hunt us with this in the Dark ages." he continued shaking his pipe towards her. " It had effect then, but it only turns us human for a few minutes now, and we still have much more power than a normal human. I use it to meditate." he said and laughed. Dorian rose his hand towards her. " I mean no disrespect to you and your covenant here, I come to do my business and will leave without making any other trouble for you or your... friends."

" And what... business is that?" she said still coughing slightly.

" I am hunting a dangerous werewolf. I will only stay to the next full moon, see if I can find him and if I can't, I'll leave. No harm done!" he said, raising both his hands as if showing he had no guns on him and offered his left hand. She got up on her own, ignoring it, she hissed at him in disrespect and turned around leaving. He walked towards the door as she left through it and shouted towards her in the corridor. " My name is Dorian." she ignored him and continued down the stairs. " And she says I'm rude." he frowned. Mumbles came from the bed as he felt Mollie waking up. He closed the door and walked towards the bed. " Now... wander what I should do with you?" he said gently.

" Oh my god!" she screamed sitting on the bed, when she saw him. " What are you?"

" I am Dorian. And I mean you no harm."

"Please don't eat me. I am not a light snack."
The man she had slept next to was no man at all she was so scared. Then once the shock started to wear off she found herself angry. Why was she being such a girl about it? One thing she was not was a coward she gathered herself for a moment. Shaking she still felt scared but no longer let it control her. She slowly reached for her knife hidden beneath her pillow. She had one too many close calls and put it there just in case. Halfway to the pillow she stopped and realized she didn't want to hurt him. He was scary no doubt about it. However what she really wanted was to go back to before the woman had barged in. There must be something wrong
"My name is Mollie but everyone calls me Minnie." She said after a moment. "What happens now?" She paused and then asked"Why did you hug me?"
A small town of gambling, mining and cow-herding. That is what Dorian could see through the small window of the whorehouse. There were brawny men, with char-coaled faces and short lads with shovels walking over the muddy streets. Young ladies walked gracefully with lifted skirts to keep them clean. He had seen this in way to many towns. But one thing he had not taken use to- his kind. It was very rare to come across them and it usually included territory dispute or just plain violence. As he puffed out smoke, he recalled the rude girl, her beastly appearance, her feline scent. It turned him on in more than one way, and he hated himself for it. All his life Dorian had tried to control his nature, his hidden predatory yearnings, and had been failing every time. He was not all angry with his true identity though. If it was not for it, he would not last as long as he did. It had saved his life and that of others more than once. But it had also killed many innocents. He sucked on the pipe once again as he saw Minnie crossing the street back to whorehouse. He had told her to go and buy cheese, bread and dry meat. Going out would sooth her nerves and let her have a few minutes of thought away from him. That and he really did not know how to answer her question about the hug.

" Did yo find dry meat?" he said calmly, still looking at the window, as she entered the room.

" Yes, and the bread is still warm." She said with a steady voice. He turned around, looking her in the eyes. Dorian could very easily tell that she had finally taken use to the idea of what he is. She had taken her time too- thinking it through was a slow process.

"Good!" he answered, as he moved from the window, after a few moments. " Please, do sit." she pulled her skirts to her knees and sat on bed. " Now, let's start with me. Understand that I am not a human." he said as he sat next to her taking the bread and dry meat. "Outside I may appear gentle and pleasant, but inside hides something dangerous and evil." continued Dorian as he produced a knife and sliced the meat. He paused while eating. He then turned towards her with a serious face. "When you see me changing the way I did back then, run! Run for your life, because I cannot control it most of the time."

"So what is it?" Minnie asked as her eyes kept shifting from his face to the floor and back.

" A very old demon. Some call it instinct, others- curse, I call the demon of anger. Everyone of my kind have it and deal with it differently. Me? I keep it away." he said as he continued eating.

" How?" she continued without realizing it.

" I feed it! I feed it with my hatred of other demons." Dorian said seriously.

" There are others?"

" Of course. If there is one like me, there is bound to be another." he answered leaving the food to the side. " As for what happens now...? Well, I will go find a job somewhere... maybe as a cowboy." he said as his eyes focused on her neck. " I intend to feed the demon soon."

" I see." she said as her head dropped. He stood up and collected the food, leaving some for her and put the rest of his clothes on. " I will go for now." he said as he put his hat on and walked away without saying a thing. " Oh, look for me in the little hotel that is a few blocks away. I'll talk and organize everything with Ernie. From now on you're sleeping with me."
Minnie stood for a moment shock by what Dorian said as he left. Had he really said it? Did he mean it? Or was it a sick joke on her behalf. All of this went through her mind.
She sat on the edge of her bed thinking. Dorian said there were other people like him. She started to wonder who could be a demon, but changed her mind. She would be jumping at shadows and suspicious of everyone. She laughed at the last thought she already hated everyone, well not everyone. Shuddering she stood up and spun around suddenly very excited.
Minnie danced over to the mirror suddenly curious as to what Dorian saw in her. A short dark haired girl stared back at her. Her light green eyes were the one thing she didn't hate about herself. She shrugged and went to her bed and nibbled on some of the left over food.
A knock on the door startled her. "Minnie!" Ernie bellowed. "Open up."
Minnie didn't like the sound of his voice so she grabbed the knife from under her pillow before opening the door.
"What?" Minnie asked only opening the door far enough to see his face.
Ernie shoved his way into her room. "Someone has bought you." He sneered. "I doubt he will keep you for very long."
Minnie didn't know what to say. She couldn't figure out why Ernie was so angry, he didn't like her anyway. She never did what he wanted her to.
"When he gets bored with you and don't doubt for a minuet he won't you can come crawling back. I might even let you stay."
Minnie was shaking with anger. She dared not say anything to make him mad so she kept her mouth shut until he left the room. "I will never come back here you filthy pig!"
Sally spotted Minnie coming down the stairs and rushed over to her. "Minnie I need to talk to you."
"Is something wrong?" Minnie asked walking towards her.
Sally laughed "good heavens no. I just found out you are leaving."
"Oh. Well yes I .." Minnie began
"I have something for you." Sally said quietly. She pulled out a money pouch and handed it to Minnie. "Ernie is a snake and a vile man. You are very lucky to be leaving. I can't say I will miss you much, but take this. It isn't much just enough to buy a nice dress for yourself, but take it."
Minnie opened her mouth to say she couldn't take it but Sally was already walking away.
