Are they really your words that have appeared in front of you? You feel like you've given birth, even if that is a physical impossibility! Moments before, your poem was an idea. Now it's a burgeoning baby ready to grow and adapt. The muse doesn't diminish your talent or detract from the style you weave into words; think of your merging as two halves forming to make a whole. To be clear, you are not the master of your muse, your muse is the master of you. She tirelessly inspires you in your pursuit of poetic brilliance. She's the one that sparks your imagination while you're driving to the grocery store and compels you to pull over and make notes. When your fingers can't keep pace with the thoughts that tumble from your brain, the muse is responsible. She aids you in bringing life to words, and frankly, she's tired of stalking the shadows. It's time the two of you meet. Your muse is waiting patiently in the lounge, enjoying the plush cream décor and vases filled with plump, sweet-scented roses. She's sipping white wine, tapping her fingers, and preparing to deliver excellence. The rest is up to you! One thing is certain, she does have some complaints. The inspiration you gain to create that ballad comes from her. You feel the urge but put it in the "too hard" basket where the "Forms to Try" folder is located. Your muse doesn't appreciate this, and she must find it hurtful that you don't respond to her whispers. You can prove your loyalty to the one faithful companion who's only goal is to collaborate with you. She's decided to tender her challenge; what you choose to do with it is up to you. The panel of muses want boundaries pushed, comfort zones dispensed of, and new forms and genres explored. So, what have you got to lose? You might not surprise your muse ... but you will surprise yourself. Below you will find a list of muse-profiles. Your muse appears in this list. Her name and yours appear together, as well as her favourite form, genre, and convention. Take note of her preferences. You never know when they may be of use to you. Remember, your muse has chosen you. Make her proud! She may not look like the kind of muse that you would choose for yourself, but perhaps there is a reason for that. You might not like the genre, form, or kink that she selects for you, but she anticipated that and sent a memo in advance: Deal with it! Note: please read the following rules before submitting a poem. They are important and must be adhered to in order to please your muse. If you don't please her, she won't reward you. Simple, dimple! ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** The Rules IMPORTANT! ~ Please read before submitting a poem ~  Each member of the Campfire Creative will have one turn per round A four-day period is allotted to complete you poem before submission If you choose to decline the muse's challenge, you may skip your turn. Please refrain from taking the full four days to pass over your turn. By declining promptly, you allow the next person to start creating. It's okay to skip your turn if you are too busy to create, but you will have to answer to the muse ...  Each challenge will include genre, form, and a kink. The definition of a "kink" is detailed below. All three (genre, form, and kink) must be included in your poem. Your muse will be choosing these three elements. IMPORTANT: If you really don't like the three choices, you can request another selection. You can do this once each time your turn comes around. NOTE: Don't skip the Campfire notification request if you simply want another selection. Email me, and I'll collect a new selection from your muse. If you skip the notification request, you will lose your turn. The request remains valid for (4) days, and I will get back to you promptly with your new genre, form, and kink. If you don't like the second offering, you can write it anyway (always the best option), or you can skip your turn and wait for the next round. Look at it as a personal challenge if you receive a selection that isn't "you." That's how we grow in our writing. If a poem isn't at least a little challenging, you're probably not growing in your craft. The content rating for all poetry must not exceed (18+). IMPORTANT: Please don't post the whole poem in the entry. Create a static item for your poem, then submit the bitem in your entry. Your poem will be linked on the page. If you don't want your poem to be visible to the general writing.com community, link the item with a passkey for the other members of the campfire and myself. ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** What is a Kink? The panel of muses have decided on the following conventions to get you started. One for each muse. One of these conventions will be included in the specifications for your poem, along with a genre and form choice. Meter and rhyme scheme will never be included because either of these conventions might contradict the requirements of the form you have been gifted by the muse. IMPORTANT! The inclusion of a certain convention doesn't mean you have to use it in excess. You don't want it to be overdone or to affect the quality of your poem. You just have to incorporate the convention somewhere within your poem, whatever that convention may be. For instance, if you have simile as your convention, one will suffice. Feel free to use more if it is appropriate or natural. The ultimate goal is to write good poetry, and that can't be achieved with forced writing. Of course, you can use as many or as few other conventions as you want. Go crazy! Or don't go crazy ... you get the picture.
