Song/Ballad
[Introduction]
On this rainy night two kids were set abound
Driving on this slick road to this little ole town
Drinking from a bottle with big starry eyes
Telling jokes and those dreadful lies
Coming to a curve which was narrow and intense
Losing their faculties and all good sense
Jerking on the wheel much too soon
Screaming in panic, rhyming in tune
The kids looked up to see a man aglow
He whispered in their ears and said " Go Real Slow "
To this young man surprise his foot came off the peddle
Still driving on the road was this big heap of metal
Slipping and sliding, twisting, and turning
Holding that steering wheel while sniveling and yearning
They looked up at the man who was set aglow
Jesus looked down and smiled; " I told you to go slow ! "
They heard a song come from Jesus lips:
Peace be with you
Peace be with you
Peace be with you on this cold, damp night
Peace be with you
Peace be with you
Peace be with you, as everything will be alright
Looking upon the man with his glowing light
This marveling sound and extraordinary site
They knew this man in white was every bit right
So traveling closer to this far away town
They came to a bridge which was old and brown
That ole bridge shivered and shook
These two kids took another look
All of a sudden the trestle broke loose
Shrapnel was hanging from a long threaded noose
The youngsters started screaming for their sake
For that ole brown bridge was over a lake
The eerie, cold night was black as a crow
When the kids heard His voice that said " Go Real Slow "
They heard a song come from Jesus lips:
Peace be with you
Peace be with you
Peace be with you on this cold, damp night
Peace be with you
Peace be with you
Peace be with you as everything will be alright
Hearing this song for the second time
Their eager hearts jumped a chime
They stopped and stared at their mistake
Sinful ways that imitate
Growing colder as the night wore on
Still wondering about that second song...
Fever broke as they crossed the lake
Beads of sweat rolling from his namesake
Nomad obsessions with devils aggressions
Sinking deep in the heart causing oppressions
These poor kids are lost in sin!
Not knowing where to go or where to begin
They reached the town they had been looking for
Not seeing much there; Has to be more!!
Haste has been disconcerting
Not understanding much of their learning
They came to that town looking for gold
Scouring the mountainsides so I was told
By this time they were stoned drunk
Their clothes reeked and smelled of skunk
Climbing that hill to find their prize
Coming to find out this wasn't so wise
The sides were slippery with gravel and of rock
Illusions of menace began to mock
A strike of lightning and a clap of thunder
Howls of torment with great sunder
And with a great white glow
Jesus uttered the words " Go Real Slow "
Then the song they came to know:
Peace be with you
Peace be with you
Peace be with you on this cold, damp night
Peace be with you
Peace be with you
Peace be with you as everything will be alright
One asked who are you?
Jesus said someone you already knew
As it turned into the next day
The older brother woke up where he lay
He turned and said swell
My head is aching like a thousand chimed bell
Little brother rolled over and said wow! I had quite a dream last night
Finding no gold but an awesome sight
both feeling ill and still real sore
Neither one feeling like drinking anymore
Both looking at each other they started singing the song that Jesus sung
all this being pushed out through congested lungs
Peace be with you on this cold, damp night
Peace be with you as everything will be alright
Big brother said: I was invited to a party tonight. Do you wanna go?
Little brother said: No. Peace be with you and " Go Real Slow"
