SHAKESPEAREAN SONNET CONTEST (tempoarily closed) Yup, it's back. A contest for the dreaded Shakespearean Sonnet. This is a 14 line, rhyming poem that must be written in iambic pentameter. It consists of 3 quatrains (ABAB CDCD EFEF) and a rhyming couplet at the end (GG). A decent explanation can be found at: http://www.poetrydoctor.org/sonnet.htm Some examples are at:
ROUND 28 will begin at a later date Prompt: **NO PROMPT** This is a monthly contest. Any genre, any rating is acceptable. From time to time I will award a poetry merit badge or Awardicon for a piece that is exceptional in form and content. Entries will be judged on form very strictly as well as content. Language use is always a consideration as well. DA RULES! 1) All entries MUST be posted in bitem format. 2) No entries that have already recieved an awardicon are allowed. 3) When there is a prompt entries must follow it. Prompts are guidlines. The word doesn't have to be used but the relationship to the prompt must be evident. 4) If the post is off topic it's poster must use "OT." 5) Don't "reply" to posts. Send the author an email. 6} Repeat entries are allowed as long as they haven't won this contest before. 7) Any post not following the rules will be deleted. PRIZES 1st: 5,000 GIFT POINTS 2ND: 2,500 GIFT POINTS 3RD: 1,500 GIFT POINTS If I choose any honorable mentions they will recieve 500 gift points.
