Oct 24 Beer

Big joke huh? You think it's funny seeing all that beer all over the highway?
Well, look a little closer and you'll see all our hopes and dreams smashed out there too.
I flipped that truck and took out my Grandfather's whole world in one fell swoop.

Grandad had a heart attack the day before he was supposed to make his last big run.
This one would have paid off his 18 wheeler and freed him and Grandma to travel and do whatever they chose. I volunteered to make the run for him. He didn't want me to do it but I convinced him.

The day I left was rainy and dark ,the road seemed to slither off into a gray mist and I knew I was in trouble. Still,I stayed focused and the hours and miles sped by without incident.
That is until I got out of the city and onto the open road.

I put the pedal down and felt a wild exhilaration run through me. This was freedom!
The power of the big truck was intoxicating. That's when it happened. A little brown dog ran out of the woods at the edge of the highway , followed closely by two boys in hot pursuit.

I slammed on the brakes and jack knifed the truck . It went skidding and wound up on it's side as the load of beer spilled out on the road.

The dog and the boys kept running and disappeared into the forest on the other side of the highway. Nobody really believed my story . They just thought I lost control on the wet road. Now I have to tell Grandad ,that is if I do go back at all.
What do you think I should do?
