The location hadn't improved, even with the addition of people. Michael felt uncomfortable around the large grouping of tourists at the old train station location in the dust laden desert. They'd managed a shower at least, on the rare occasion, but he still felt their entire group of four mutants stood out too much from the bright clothed, mostly hygienic crowd. He stood, away from the group of chattering teens near the clothing display of the train landmark museum and instead stared at some old documents that he couldn't even read. "There you are." A familiar voice from his misgiven group caught up with him. It was Ty, the somewhat self-involved, self-declared leader. "Kelvin is looking for you." "Okay." Then Ty moved the topic further. "I'm so glad you two got together. It's nice for both of you and really, I think we all figured he was right about your orientation." Michael winced and moved to the next display case of tools used to create the train tracks, and how they were pinned down. He didn't want to go there and said, "whatever" in hopes of topics end. But he figured Ty was too much of a dimwit to let it end that easily. He was right as Ty followed suit. "Come on. You were so grumpy, or well, grumpier the days before getting laid. At least you've calmed down a bit despite..." His voice trailed off as he jerked his head around, looking in several different directions at the different tourists groups in the surrounding area. He appeared to look for something, but his face had an expression of confusion with some squinting of his eyes. "What?" The random quietness of Ty made Michael uncomfortable because it was rare. "I think there is another mutant in the area." Ty gripped Michael's shoulder and kept looking around. Looking as well, a flush from the heat became worse. Then Michael blinked and in a whirlwind the entire scene around him and Ty changed. The museum elements were gone and instead the actual railway was the only thing in the location except groupings of people. But they weren't the tourists that had been there a second ago. Instead, there were mostly males dressed in tans and light clothing that all had a tan tint due to the coverings of dust that seemed to coat everything. Ty looked just as startled as Michael felt. One man approached them. He had the clothing that everyone else had, but the look on his face was far more smug than it should be. He stopped less than a foot away and spoke directly at Michael and Ty. "You boys have a nice trip?" His smile showed off dull tinted teeth. "Next time y'all need to be more careful whose territory you wander into and who you copy." Michael knew at once what he meant and turned his glare to Ty for he was the copy cat mutant. |
