Stuff to do
MAY 8 ENTRY: What are five things you want to see or do before it's too late?

“It is nothing to die. It is frightful not to live.”
― Victor Hugo

Five things, just five? It is so difficult to choose. *Rolleyes* I have a long list. But I guess the top five would be as follows (bear with me, I like to explain stuff so this might take time):

1) My English teacher in junior year (or 11th grade) was an extremely encouraging person. One day, she asked all of us what we wanted to do for a career. Most of us (including me) went for the commonest answers. She was, at that time, the only person whom I allowed to read my work. She suggested I should think about writing. A few months later, in senior year, I mentioned this to my new English teacher. This teacher was older, more experienced and thus worldly wise. When I told her about this, she started laughing. Immediately. She later explained the reason behind her reaction, but I had been hurt. Nothing could repair that. The first thing I’d like to do is to get published, not to prove something to her, but to myself.

2) I LOVE France. I love the country, the language, the food (though I have had it only on a few occasions). If the English language was my first love, French isn’t too far behind. I’d love to go to France and learn the language from the proverbial horse’s mouth. Also I want to watch the French Open live, to see Rafa1 hold the trophy aloft once more would be out of this world. So, the second thing is to visit France.

3) I have always been really shy, no not just with outsiders, even with my family. When I was younger, I found it very hard to make friends, so I ended up being a loner. After much effort, I did find a few good amigos but by then, school had ended and I had very few memories to cherish. Predictably, I had only one girlfriend (sort of) in high school. So the third thing I wish I could do is overcome my chronic shyness.

“Standing on the fringes of life... offers a unique perspective. But there comes a time to see what it looks like from the dance floor.”
– The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky( a must read)

4) Fourth thing (I am squeezing in two here, don’t mind) is I’d like to meet two people.

JON HAMM: The greatest actor in TV history. Am I right or am I right? Here’s a clip, enjoy:

JACK NICHOLSON: Amazing. Just amazing. Another clip:

5) The final thing I’d like to do is to repair my relationship with my dad. We never really talked much during my childhood and drifted further in my adolescence. I never really told him about my feelings, I guess I never did tell many people about my feelings. I think stuff would have been better if I had done so. Here’s to hope…

Hope I didn’t bore you guys. Side note: These War Chest topics are turning out to be really good. So *Thumbsup* to all the participants.

“Go forth into the busy world and love it. Interest yourself in its life, mingle kindly with its joys and sorrows.”
― Ralph Waldo Emerson
