You didn't really tell us what the book is about. But I can try some What Ifs for you, if you want. What if you include an index? What if you make this a companion to a fiction book? What if you pull stories from the Bible to include in your book? What if you include stories from your own life or the lives of people around you? What if you include news stories to highlight points? What if you make a page at the end of each chapter for people to take notes on? What if you have questions to make people think at the end of each chapter? What if you write a workbook to go with this? What is you make this like a daily inspiration book with 365 entries? What if you pray and ask God what He wants you to do with this book? What if you pray before every time you sit down to write? What if you have a fictional character that's also going through the book and struggling and asking questions and making progress like you want the reader to be doing? What if you start or end each section with a prayer for the reader to pray? What if you start each section with a prayer you are praying for the reader? What if you illustrate ideas in the book with fictionalized stories? What if you decide to be vulnerable and share your own life story and struggles and make this almost a memoir? What if you include coloring pages or have an adult coloring book as a companion book that goes with it? What if you start and/or end each chapter with key points/insights you want the reader to gain? That's the best I can do since I don't know what the books is about, but I hope you like at least 1 or 2 of these ideas. You never love 100% of the What Ifs, but I hope you like some and/or they spawn other ideas for you to consider. As for writing software, I love Dabble, but you may not. You can probably use it for free during NaNo (you usually can), but if you're borrowing someone else's computer, you can't really download it onto their computer. Or is Dabble fully cloud based? Honestly, I can't recall. You should check into that. lol I only use the different software I have once a year, total, not each. lol I've used each at least once during NaNo to see if I wanted to buy them, but then some I've not used since that NaNo because nearly every year, I'm testing out a different one. lol Though I'm going to try to stick to Scrivener for the next few years to get more used to it because it has a steep learning curve, but I want to use it for my dissertation. Anyway, if Dabble is cloud based and you don't have to download anything, I suggest you use it for this NaNo. You can always download your work at the end, if you don't buy it. And I think you can use it for free every year for NaNo (as long as they are sponsoring it), but check on that. Personally, I'll likely end up using Scrivener, but I'm prepping on here. This is how mine looks. Mind you, I'm prepping 5 books ATM. I'm sure I'll abandon this plan soon, but here's what I've got. "2024 NaNo Prep"  I hope this has helped. Best of luck!  |
