A contest involving strong emotions... |
The Opposite Emotions Contest Welcome to my very first contest. It is my opinion that a good piece of writing will either make me laugh or make me cry. So I decided to start a contest devoted to these two emotions. This contest will be judged by Dec. 23rd! The contest will NOW run monthly and the winners will be announced within within three weeks.Sorry I had to change this, but as I will now be reviewing short stories, and because I am attending school, I will need more time ! PROMPTS ADDED!!! The NEW Rules Okay, as I have had requests to open the competition to short stories here goes! You may now enter either a short story (1500 wds MAX) or a poem (40 lines MAX, just to make it fair) or one of each. For this round I want poems only! You are free to use any poetry form you would like except prose poetry(!) For short stories include a word count. Please make sure your entry has a strong emotional appeal. Ask yourself if the poem or story would make SOMEONE ELSE laugh or cry. You may enter a total of two items per round. This time I am providing a few prompts (see below) so you can enter one poem AND one story...two poems OR two stories. You are not required to use the prompts but if you do you can use them as titles or as themes just specify which one you used in your post. Please keep it clean. No entries above 18+ and make sure you title/intro does not exceed 13+. Post your entry in bitem format only. See the link below for information on how to do this. If you are having trouble send me an e-mail. You may edit your post until the deadline. I will be reading entries as they are posted and again once the contest is closed. All entrants will receive a review. Please be aware that spelling, punctuation and grammar DO count! I will be sending out reviews through out the week, so pay close attention to details. Your review will be based on how the poem is when I first read it! Any improvements will be taken into account for judging. All entries that do not follow the rules will be deleted! HELPFUL LINKS Here is a link that contains more links that will help you with form, terms and even writing How-To's! Check it out!
