Spring 2006 SLAM! - Congrats to the winners - see you all next time! |
{SLAM! is a poetry competition run rather like a tournament; it has a long and rich history on this site. Anybody who loves to write poetry is welcome to participate, but be warned -- the competition is quite tough, and it can be a pretty intense experience! Please note that this particular SLAM! is not an "anti-SLAM" or bad poetry contest. 1. Post your entry to each prompt by hitting "REPLY" to the prompt for that round - paste your entire poem in post, then SUBMIT your entry. You may include a link to a static item of your poem in your portfolio if you'd like, but that is optional. Entries that don't use the "REPLY" feature to the original prompt will be suspended. 2. Editing of entries is allowed up to the deadline - but NOT after. Any edits done after the deadline will disqualify your entry. 3. Entries must be rated 18+ or lower. 4. Anyone who places in a Prelim round will automatically have a spot to compete in the finale round, whether or not you compete in other Prelim rounds. Also, if you win a Prelim round, you are still eligible to compete in subsequent rounds. 5. Finale Rounds will begin Monday, June 12 and move more quickly - finalists will have 3 days to write to the Finale prompts. If you place in Finale Round 1, you advance to the Finale Round 2. Those who place in Finale Round 2 will advance to Finale Round 3, after which we will crown our Spring SLAM! winners. 6. Entries must be newly written, original poems for the SLAM, and cannot be previously written poems. 7. Entries WILL be judged for proper spelling and grammar - so make sure to edit your work carefully. 8. One entry per round, per SLAMMER, is allowed. If the prompt inspires your muse to write more than one, feel free to post any extras over in the Green Room. 9. Judging for each round will be done by all three hosts, AFTER the deadline. In other words, all three hosts will have a say in deciding the winners of each round, but we will not start reading the entries until after the deadline for each round passes. Don't forget to make the SLAM Green Room a "Favorite" place - it's where all questions, chatting, cheering, or venting about the SLAM will be hosted during the competion (in other words, no chatting in this SLAM forum).
