I've been a cutter for almost five years, and my best advice is: don't cut your arms. If you absolutely must cut, the best place is your upper thigh area. If you like to go swimming and such, then the area your swimsuit would cover would be the only logical place. What I usually do is a cut my upper thigh. When I do cut my arms these days, I do it underneath my watch. You could sporadically cut yourself on other places of your body, but only one mark at a time. Then it looks like an accident. ("I fell, I got caught by a vine/briar/etc, damn cat . . .") My experience with concealer wasn't that great. As I said in another post, it only made my scars show up more. Mine were (are) what Aran described as Keloid, though. Most on my arm are from February 2004, but they're still there, and still plainly visible. Up close to my wrist, they're still red, but down closer to my elbow, they're pinkish. Almost all the spots are raised. It was after I put all of these on my arm and they wouldn't go away that I started cutting my legs. Had to. The best concealer is clothes and strategic placement of scars. |
