The Daily Rant

*sigh* I hoped I would never have to rant about this.

I don't play office games. I don't talk about people behind their backs. I've worked with a lot of different people on this campus, but I don't say bad things about any of them. I like the rule that if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. I come to work, and I mind my own business, because I'm not into gossip.

Too bad everyone doesn't work that way. Today, a coworker asked me if I am going to apply for the position that's open in the Registrar's Office. I told her that I don't plan to apply for it, and she said, "Well, I've heard that you have been applying for every open position on campus, and that you're not happy here."

I generally don't like to use "text speak" here on writing.com, but: WTF?????

I have no idea where this rumor started, and I have no idea why! I never applied for another position! I never even thought about applying for another position! And this coworker said that she heard from several sources that I was applying for other positions.

Suppose I was unhappy with my job, and I was thinking about applying for a position in another office. First of all, I wouldn't apply for a position in the Registrar's Office, because everyone on campus knows that for various reasons, that's the worst office in which to work. Second of all, if I were unhappy, I would sit down and talk with my supervisor before I would try to move to another office. I would not try to hide the fact that I wanted to change to another office.

Okay, that's about all the time I want to spend thinking about these stupid rumors. Even though I know I'm going to sit here all day thinking about it...
