Something I don't believe Wist or DD mentioned:

According to W.com rating rules, a story must have an appropriate content rating. Age doesn't matter. A reader under 18 can read 18+ items, and equally, so must he rate his own items appropriately. The ratings are to give readers some idea of the content, not an age-related requirement.
