That's exactly why I like her. Yeah, she needs to actually make a use of herself (and I'm not far enough into the series to see if she ever does), but I find her whorish reaction to the situation so refreshing compared to the usual way young characters are written in any series with giant robots. "Waaaah, there's a war on, and I have to kill people!" *ANGST ANGST ANGST* ![]() But you have a point about the Japanese propensity to create female characters to be passive. *cough*Hitomi Kanzaki!*cough* Though, I've been watching a series called "Twelve Kingdoms" and the school girl only spends about half the first season crying about how she wants to go home before she seizes destiny by the walnuts. If she'd taken any longer about doing it, I might have quit the series altogether, unicorns or no unicorns. Japanese studios are supposedly trying to gear their projects toward a more worldwide audience now (so says a documentary I was half-watching the other night). And since there seem to be no great traditional animation studios hereabouts, I do hope they reach out for some Western inspiration. *here's hoping* Either that or somebody will think to start one up on this side of the world. ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** |
