I was glad to see that you did post the review publicly. When it comes down to reading reviews, the only time I bother to find out whether or not it's public is when I want to thank the reviewer with GP's; if it's public, I can send the GP's from there. (Unless, you know, it's on a chapter of a book, in which case the system keeps telling me that I've already sent them GP's for that item - arg!) I've never minded scrolling past reviews that are longer than I feel like reading. It's a little unfortunate, but that's a rare problem on the public review page. I far more often scroll past the short ones. When I can see the full body (not necessarily counting ginormous sigs) of three reviews at one time, I find myself wondering if WDC should change the name of that little window at the bottom of each item to a "Make your comments here!" window, instead of a review window. Kinda like it is when you've already sent a review. Maybe it's just me, but I find a lot of the stuff I want to read by looking at the reviewing page. When I find a review that's insightful, it's just as likely to interest me in the story as a blurb is. And if I do go read that, I know what the author's already been told. I can choose to emphasize their points or put them up for debate in the author's mind. I think someone's already mentioned it, but I'll say it again -- the only high-character reviews I get tired of scrolling past are the ones with huge sigs. Never mind that the sigs take more time to download. I much prefer your in-depth reviews followed by one lovely sig at the bottom. And the sig makes sense, when it's quite clear that the sig wasn't just added to make the review 250-characters long. I'll admit I'm biased. I think there should be a whole new word for the types of reviews I've gotten from you. In fact, in my head, I've made one up. ![]() ** Image ID #1072368 Unavailable ** |
