Ya know, after dealing with a couple of particularly inept students a few years back, I've been reasonably happy reading anything that makes some sense, irrespective of form. ![]() I'm not particularly fond of free verse composed of a very loosely strung series of sentences or thoughts that do not, to me anyway, make a cohesive statement. I read a fair number of monthlies and other periodicals (Tin House, Missouri Review, Zoetrope, The Sun, writing journals, etc.), & lately I've noted quite a bit of this genre. But if that's a new or newly favored direction, I'm willing to think about it. Personally, I've been know to get misty-eyed over a well-written set of assembly instructions, & once used a couple of sets written in England (not farmed out to a third party in China or Malaysia) as class handouts. It was a useful exercise. In my teaching experience, most people who write well adopt new forms without a great deal of difficulty. Yeah, I know, those who can't do - teach... Soooo, go easy on us, Belle. ![]() ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** ** Images For Use By Upgraded+ Only ** |
