Re: FINALS ROUND 2 PROMPT
Rainy Day Down

I stretch like a cat, lie languid and long
pull the fibrous fabric up over my head.
Through the screen, a soft breathing sound
of air coolly cleansed by the cascading sky,
just a hint of magnolia, so sweet the scent
and my body adrift and light in a dream.

I’m a leaf in a brook afloat on a dream
catching the breeze cool and long,
herbal in earth and pine needle scent,
a circular view is filling my head;
the pebble brook bottom, the arc of the sky,
the quiet of bubbling babbling sound.

Pellets patter a monotone sound,
I drift toward a falls in the dream.
The passage of time brings no change to the sky,
the hour grows empty and long.
I ratchet my neck when shifting my head,
the magnolias are washed of their scent.

Plants and pavement are neutral in scent,
the absence of birds mean an absence in sound
that opens this void in my head.
I’m rowing upstream inside of the dream,
my lower spine aches from lying too long,
this day, the whim of a god in the sky.

There’s nothing but gray in the coal swirling sky,
I’m repulsed by the red worm’s spice-slime scent
and their slinking the sidewalk, stupid and long.
The plops in the gutter make irregular sound,
a flailing and drowning man comes to my dream,
flashing frames frantic inside of my head.

Sinuses throb at the front of my head,
I sink to the blue of a light deprived sky,
my body lies leaden and under the dream.
The dander and dust meld in thin trace scent,
an adrenalin surge from a thunderous sound,
and blue turns to black, in darkness too long.

My muffled head clouded in moss musty scent
when finally sky clears with silence the sound,
but the dream day is spoiled by lying too long.
