Free verse: Seduction (15 lines) Dream-catcher When she smiled I thought of flowers, her conversation like a vase she filled with tulips. When she moved I saw a willow, her touch a brush of leaves caressing in a gentle breeze. When she danced she was a stream splashing on the rocks, partnered by the moonlight. When she laughed it was new morning eager to go out and play, seduced by promises and light. Both wanton and demure she visits me in dreams and all day long I search the crowded streets, hoping I might catch her eye.
Pantoum form: The personification of death Time to go I see you both have come to claim your prize. I’ve played hard all day, I am a tired child, don’t hide yourselves beneath the dark disguise with eyes brim full of nature, skin roughened by the wild. I’ve played hard all day, I am a tired child, I followed birds, turned over rocks, climbed the tallest trees with eyes brim full of nature, skin roughened by the wild, arms wide as if a human sail to catch the slightest breeze. I followed birds, turned over rocks, climbed the tallest trees, I hoped you would reveal yourself, your purposes to show. Arms wide as if a human sail to catch the slightest breeze I tried to make the most of it before my time to go. I hoped you would reveal yourself, your purposes to show, I found life inextricably entwined with death. I tried to make the most of it before my time to go as each began the moment I drew breath. I found life inextricably entwined with death, inseparable, you differ only in a name. As each began the moment I drew breath your gifts of time have measured out the same. Inseparable, you differ only in a name, don’t hide yourselves beneath the dark disguise. Your gifts of time have measured out the same, I see you both have come to claim your prize.
