Okay, I'm looking for a verb (single word) that means "to move explicitly." Basically, the main character of my story has just been, for lack of a better term, beaten up, and she's having trouble getting out of bed the next day. I'm looking to say that she moved purposefully, concentrating on each individual movement, but I'd like to do it without the adverbs, because they're really weighing the sentence down: I had to move so explicitly that for the first time in my life I realized how much effort really goes into what is usually the single fluid motion of getting out of bed.
Any suggestions for replacing the "move explicitly" ? I've been racking my brain for a few hours now, and I'm about to tear my hair out. If you need more context, it's toward the middle of "Invalid Item" .
