Welcome to the Shelter, Stormy. Unfortunately, there's no simple answer to your question. A friend of mine, Dawn Colclasure collected a series of essays on this subject, most all of which were written by working parent/authors.

I'm not hawking the book because Dawn is a friend. I think some of the essays reveal some really good strategies for wiriting while surviving the rigors of family and work.
