Writer's Fallout Shelter

I write horror (thrillers) and "supernatural epics." My most infamous work to date, [i]Offspring[/i], crossed several taboos beginning with the showing (not telling) of children as victims of horrific violence (very limited scenes), challenging conservative religous dogma, and drawing on fringe reglious beliefs from Christianity, Judaism, and Islam.

Some of the e-mails I've received hail the book as a breakout exercise in Truth, (whatever the heck that means) while a couple of others have called me the anti-Christ.

At least person sent condolences for what must have been a "very sick, twisted, and violent childhood" while another applauded my attempt to write "honestly" about evil in the world.

Most (by far) of the messages express a simple "thanks" for an entertaining story.

I don't care what you write, someone will take issue while another will appreciate the work. Some will hate it, some will love it, and some will accuse you of heralding in a new age of light, darkness, love, hate, apathy etc... And a few will actually get it, that your only intent was to tell an entertaining story.

Write the story you know and let the chips fall where they may. ;)
