You have them. You know you do. Every writer does. There's no shame in it.
What am I talking about? Pet words and phrases, of course. Crutch words. The ones that you use far too often in your writing. They just sorta creep in without you realizing it and, during the rewrite, you're left trying to dig them out and pare them down to a respectable level.
