Honey, you need to talk to your doctor about the benefits versus the risks of kidney transplantation. I think 37 is too young to give up and although you could go on dialysis to keep the toxins out of your bloodstream it's hard as hell on the body and most do not live
beyond 8 years or so due to the stress of dialysis and the strain on the heart between treatments.
I say if the surgery will prolong your life and make you feel better then go for it! The medications you will have to take may make you feel bad on occasion but it will not be as bad as you would feel on dialysis. Just make sure if you decide to have a transplant they find the best match for you. The closer the tissue match the better for you and the fewer problems you will. You will also not have to take as many drugs. A four antigen match is the best but those usually come from family members.
