Is it a matter of whether your reviewers support or denounce the Oxford comma, otherwise known as the serial comma?

For example:

Sally bought apples, oranges, and pears. (Oxford comma usage.)

Sally bought apples, oranges and pears. (No Oxford comma usage.)


If that's the case, both are "correct." It's just a matter of house style and general preference.


The supports of the Oxford comma believe it eliminates confusion and will quote sentences such as the following:

I dedicate this book to my parents, Ayn Rand and God.


The confusion indicated in the above sentence is whether the book is dedicated to three separate and distinct entities or whether the author is indicated that his/her parents are Ayn Rand and God.
