Dear Overdramatized,
That's a difficult situation to be in. I don't blame you one bit for your frustration. As someone who dislikes disappointing or hurting people, I know that can be quite difficult. But when you reach the point where you're sacrificing something of yourself, then it's time to take the next step. It's time to be honest - that doesn't necessarily mean being cruel, but I think it's time to say "this is what I can accept, and this is what I cannot." If the kid can't stick to the boundaries you've set (and we all have the right to set boundaries!) then you need to say "I'm sorry, I can't do this anymore" and sever the relationship. That's not easy to do, especially in certain settings, but if you lay out your boundaries and they're being overstepped, you have every right to walk away. Good luck!
