Eek, yes, Kerry :( I preferred Wesley Clark...actually, to be blunt, I preferred almost anyone BUT Kerry and Edwards. Now all you hear about are Hillary and Obama--as if the primaries are already over and the race is decided. I'm not particularly thrilled with either of them. I really wish we had more than two parties. Actually, I kind of wish we didn't have parties at all. I think George Washington mentioned that in his farewell address--smart man. Right now it just seems as though everything as degenerated to the point that, instead of "who can do the best job", the race is based on "who has the most money" and "who gets the most face time on the TV". Tyranny of the majority indeed. I still vote, but, I live in a state where a would-be despot and media-whore sheriff is consistently re-elected despite being known to Amnesty Intl. as a human rights violator and despite being featured on a BBC Channel 4 documentary and despite dirty campaigning and rampant, well publicized corruption....AND...the guy I voted for president (and a majority voted for in 2000) somehow won but didn't...AND...voting has been taken over by easily corrupted machines in many places.... So... I don't think I'm being out of line in saying that it feels like I'm just spitting in the wind. |
