Re: Re: Re: Stephen King
I have to disagree with you Traveler, I don't think he's exploring new realms in horror. Take Cell (I love that book - though I agree with Dreamflyer, it does feel lacking), it's nothing but a watered and lightweight version of The Stand - instead of Captain Trips making the rounds its the good old mobile phone. I still think there should've been more on what caused the phone-zombies though - instead of vague references to a virus - did I say virus (where have I heard that before ... Hhmmm *Smile* ) So instead of flu is computer based.

But I disagree with Dreamflyer on the characters - I thought they were well thought out and written. The story also reminded me a little of the old Stephen King - IT - The Stand - The Green Mile (all to me had a similar feeling).

With King I find that his writing has certain feelings - Like his work as Richard Bachman - He stated that he wrote as Bachman because he thought the stories were too dark & violent to the other work he was writing.- That said there are two other books written as King that, I believe, fall into the Bachman feel - The Dark Half and Dreamcatcher.

All being said - you cannot take it away from the man, he is a great writer. Though you may not like some of his work - Dragons Eye - or agree with some of the things he does - The Dark Half: "And the sparrows took him away" Looked great on the film, but really anticlimaxed the fantastic novel for me, even now I grimace at the thought - he takes you from A to B effortlessly and with quite a few thrills along the way.

More power to his pen (or wordpro - whichever he's using nowadays *Smile* ).

Come join me - We ALL float down here.
Pennywise.
