My name's Dave, and I'm from Toronto, Canada. I'm a freelance computer consultant/self-employed computer geek/potential entrepreneur who enjoys writing fiction as a hobby.
I have a story in the works, but it seems I suffer from long bouts of procrastination. I suspect it might be from fear and uncertainty. When I write code, I know its going to work. If it doesn't, I can systematically debug it until it *does* work.
Of course, the same cannot be said of writing fiction. It's not as black and white. And so I finish a chapter, take a break for six months, revise that chapter, take another break, and so on. The fact of the matter is, nothing gets done, and I have friends who are eager for me to finish the story!
I was just hoping someone might be able to provide some insight into conquering this block. I really don't know what's causing it... when I *do* write, I love it.
Any suggestions?
