Noticing Newbies

Hi I am leo 26 and i am happy, to have found out about this website. I have just realize that writing is something that i am pasionate about, but i was always afraid to take a shot at it, because i was never one to use fancy word and puttting commas and periods in the right spot. but still i have decided to take the bull by the horns, and make an attempt at writing anyway.
So i decided to get a book on writing fiction, because this the area of writing i am interested in the most. Now I am learn how to write from Gotham Writers' Workshop Writing Fiction. I would like to know if there is anyone out there, who is familiar with this format, because i would like to have some i can refer to during this process.
