This may deserve it's own thread. I wasn't comparing religious to non-religious marriages, I don't have any data about that either. I was comparing families based around any kind of marriage vs. families based around no marriage, no commitment whatsoever, which in some places, like france, is becoming more popular. I am hypothesizing that if christians stopped getting married and made a more specific christian union ceremony not called marriage then that separation, I think, would detract from even non-christian weddings and for many people the act of marriage would lose some importance. It would become more just a social contract and would be easier ditched...though it is already pretty easy. Eventually, hypothetically, the only reason people would get married is for the tax breaks...
I don't know, it is an odd thought, I'll try to explain what I'm saying better later if I'm still not clear (it is too cold in the lunch area at my work to think straight!)
