Re: OT: The Ending for Broken Silence
Carol,

I think you should have a happy ending -- coming out is almost always a happy ending. I'm just not sure that the happy ending would involve their workplace in the way you described. Their happy ending is finding one another, having friends and family surprise them by caring for them and accepting them. And being with each other is the happiest ending of all.

You might have them surmount obstacles at work by finding a different job or by starting their own company. Since in most jurisdictions you can be fired for being gay (or for having blue eyes or a last name that starts with "P" for that matter), a lawsuit wouldn't help, and would be another story anyway.

The "it just happens the big boss is secretly gay too" scenario you laid out just seemed too pat to me. Now if the Big Boss at their company's major competitor turned out to be gay and offered them jobs....that might be an interesting twist. On the other hand, that was just an outline and it might read fine when you flesh it out.

Plus, as with everything else, that's just one person's opinion!
