LoL, I've actually got a Rumpelstiltskin story outlined! I was as intrigued by it as you are!

That's the thing about fairy tales is sometimes motivation and explanations are left out, leaving us, as authors, free to fill in the blanks and tell THAT story.

And, JH, the story I'm currently working on is the 12 Dancing Princesses. *Laugh* You won't believe how many people have never heard it! It's one of my favorites. My story, however, is from the point of view of the youngest princess. You don't even meet the soldier until the very end, and in my story it's the youngest princess who is partly responsible for his being there!
