Para/Poem Challenge "Open"

*Abash
*Anaphoric
*Aniconic
*Annihilate
*Abnegator
*Acarpous

It's the folks on the Left
Who've destroyed our American way of life...
Or maybe it's the ones on the Right.
I can't keep the anaphoric phrases straight,
But anyway it's those other people
Who want to annihilate
Whatever it is that makes us great.
That's what I've heard.
Aniconic politics,
No human forms to be seen
Just some sort of strange religion.
And the only thing they can agree on,
The Left and the Right and the other,
Is that the abnegators,
The absent voters,
The abstainers,
The nay-sayers who only ever want to wait
Are the real problem.
Even the late night talk show hosts,
Who are our main source of news
Now that the Left and the Right
And possibly those other people
Have destroyed the once great American way of life,
Will sometimes step back, saying something
To abash anyone who casts no ballot
In private protest.
They are acarpous
According to the Left, the Right, and the rest.
The vast majority of the country
Fights fruitlessly for democracy by refusing to partake.
That's what I've heard
But mostly I don't listen.
I like to watch The Simpsons instead.
