"Woman Of Clay"

she never dreams in color
'cos she can't deny a rainbow its birthrite
she sings her day away
in a key that only the animals hear
she plays the game like a seasoned pro
earning her dimes with a daily grin
she's a blank canvas
searching for the color of her eyes
her wine closet is a desert island
and bottles line the path of her journey
lost soul without a map
the star she used to follow burned away
she's a gorgeous stranger
unknown to a world that spins to know her
her birthday comes and goes
as she burns the candle at both ends
a woman of clay
desperate for a hand that longs to mold her
she looks at pictures
of other people she was when she knew herself
as the photos fade
she hungers for the freedom of her yesterdays
intamacy victim
chastity belt now adorns lands once explored
and in the end
she knew love, she knows love
but it's forgotten her
