"Being a physicist the current state of American public's knowledge in science and math concerns me greatly and I find that many of the sterotypes and preconceptions insulting." -I'm with you on this one. I'm a member of the Mythbusters forum, and you would be amazed to see how many people think you can actually curve a bullets trajectory just by moving your arm in a certain way. It's really quite sad, and as a physicist, I'm sure your right up there with being appalled that people thing they can re-direct a bullet with a simple movement of their hand and arm. "If anyone would like to continue the discussion regarding math and the ability to insert more into work done and posted at this site I would be more than happy to continue it in a more apprpriate forum, I am pretty sure this is not the correct location for this discussion. However I don't know where is, so a direction to the proper forum would be most appreciated." - I'm not sure there is a forum like what you described. I'm thinking you might need to create some sort of math forum (maybe a series of forums for math/science types to gather). I'd be interested in continuing the discussion. So as mentioned one of us might need to create the forum, or jointly create the forum. Once it's created, we should probably post it as a reply to this discussion. So people know where to go. Anyway, email me and perhaps we'll talk it over more (actually I was thinking about making a forum for engineers sometime in the future, but this seems like it might be better as engineers are petty much borderline math/science types).
