I'm so excited to see someone else who experimented with present tense! I wrote one story using present tense and like you said, it was hard. I didn't even realize at first I kept slipping into past tense, but several edits kept finding those sentences! It was fun and a great experiment, but I don't think I'll try it again any time soon!

You have such a positive outlook on using two languages! Living in Sweden, I've had to have an intensive crash course in the language over the past year, so as both languages run through my mind, I tend to find myself focused on the frustrations *Laugh*. But, if I look at it a different way, there are many positives. They have no standard word for all of our 'to be' verbs for example. Probably one of the reasons I've become so obsessed with removing them from my writing. When I speak Swedish, I have to find ways to communicate without using them so I'm much more conscious of them. I can't say, 'There was a bicycle leaning against the door' or 'there is snow outside!' because the words for 'was' and 'is' just don't exist. But, I could rephrase it to something like: 'A blue bicycle leaned against the door, guarding it.' and it becomes a stronger sentence. Being forced to think about the word choices, and limitations on those in one language, helps me when crafting stories in another language!
