Lists are not just Things To Do

Today's exercise is to make an item specifically to list words. Crazy as it sounds, sometimes having a handy list is better than having a handy thesaurus, or WDC ideanary. The good thing about keeping a list in an item on WDC is that you can add to it as you read, write, and find new words to add. I got the idea of 'genre' specific lists from a list of words created by a writer of erotica--a genre that relies on variation in description! It was a cracking list, and made me think how useful it would be for a writer of horror to have a list of alternative words for 'blood', or for an action-adventure writer to have alternative words for 'raced', etc.,

Pick a genre you work often in, and think of the words you tend to repeat, struggle and agonise over when describing a scene.

Write
Make a list of alternative descriptors!
