I was so excited to see your message this morning. From what I can tell, NaNo starts with a bare idea usually. As a matter of fact, if you read "No Plot? No Problem!," which is the handbook for NaNo, you're only supposed to plan for a total of 1 week. Over time, Chris has learned that if people plan too much for their novel, they'll scare themselves right out of writing it during Nano because they don't want to ruin it. LOL

I personally have stopped the research on my novel. I have the first 2 time periods loosely researched and a few pages bookmarked for further research as I go. I almost scared myself right out of NaNo last night. Oops! So, I pulled back to keep it fun and exciting instead.

I have a faint framework in place in my head that will hold throughout the entire story. For all I know, it will break out from that framework and meander off somewhere else. I've had stories do that before. I hope it takes on a life of its own. That makes them much more fun to write.

Anyway! I can't wait for it to start. I enjoy cheering others on. I need to post a few notes around my writing area that says, "This is fun, really." LOL
