So, while I was working with Madlibs, I noticed the concept of the system is a little outdated... I've left the old system in there as "the old system", but I've added this new means to add words/blank fields:
Here's part of the text I added to the madlib form:
Whereever you'd like someone to insert their own word, Type {blank:XXXX}, where XXXX is is something like Noun, Verb, Past Tense Verb, etc. When a visitor views your madlib, our system will generate a initial page with each word type and a blank to fill in.
With this method, there's no need to mess with the blank numbers... you can just write a story and a put the word "types" right in as you go without much extra thought.
I also did a little general cleanup... plus added links to "Edit This Version" and "go back and start fresh" from the completed madlib.
(Also, as a note, I believe the URL generated from a completed madlib can be copied and pasted to share the results of one's madlib with another person... )
