Larry, Trust me scary movies are out there, they just tend to be Japanese at the moment. They have the eerie and flesh crawling feelings that the older movies had. The trouble with today's films is that they don't tend to go for the creepiness - they splatter and shock you out. They go for the visceral, blood on the floor, severed limbs strewn here and there; and the thing I hate the most the LOUD SCREECH of strings just to make you jump at a particular moment. Even though it's Horror it's not creepy. I have to admit I found the remake of The Hills Have Eye's 2 very creepy at times and the tension is allowed to mount and you are forced to become tense at times. There was a small straight-to-video film in the '80's or early '90's which I loved and had a very creepy feel to it, that was "I Madman", about a flesh carving lunatic doctor who comes out of a novel into real life. But on the whole I agree with you it's mostly splatterville. Come join me - We ALL Float Down Here.
