for the League to complain about writer's block and to finally get some writing done. |
Another little something you could try. It's what I do when I'm finding it hard to study. Tell people you will. Everyone you can think of that you respect and want to respect you. Family, friends, co-workers/co-students. Tell them you're writing this story and by x date you're going to have it done - at which point they can read it if they want to. Even if they choose not to, the pressure is there that they might and, if the story is not done, lose some respect for you. This plays off a potent influence effect called the 'commitment and consistency' effect. Let me tell you, it's strong motivation! I knew one woman, a smoker, who could never quit - she kept trying, but just couldn't. She did this, told everyone she wanted to respect her that she was never touching a cig again - and she never did. Obviously you don't want to try your friend's patience by mentioning every single goal to them, but I'm sure one or two won't hurt ![]() Good luck!
