Yes and No, poetry is about emotion, but also not. I started writing poetry because I did not know how to tell people how I felt. I did not know anything about stanza's, rhyme, rhythm or even poetry forms, like Haiku, Terza Rima, Sonnet's, Ottava Rima or any other. I could express what I felt better on paper than in conversations. A teacher at school read my poems and motivated me, he gave me books to read and entered me into contests, and that is how my poetry love grew and how I got more involved. I do how ever feel that poetry does not always have to move the soul to be good. With so many other obstacles, like form, rhyme, etc. One can't always write from the heart. When writing off a prompt, in a specific form, it does not always move one. When I have something on the heart I want to say, it is usually filled with emotion. So even though that poem does not contain all of "This “poem” had no elements of poetry. No imagery, no use of sound in word choice, no metaphors, no sensory elements… etc." I feel it does not really make it a bad poem. But this is just my own opinion and like I said, I am here to learn, because I do not have the knowledge to say, this is good or this is bad.
