I think that you've said this very well. Reviewing really is a skill. Unfortunately, sometimes those reviewing our pieces don't take the time to review thoroughly. I know we've all had those reviews where we open our inbox and say, "Really? Did you even read the story/poem?"

I do think we get a bit more thick-skinned as we go along, but I think it's always important to remember that there is a human being at the other end looking for help honing their craft.

You make some very good, valid points in your post, and I think there is at least something good in everything that we read - we, as reviewers, just have to look for it.
