Fin, I really agree with you on this. I think that we don't always recognise good art when we first see it. Sometimes it takes a second or a third glance, and sometimes it takes another person's persuasion to overcome the initial alienation, and encourage us to see it in a different light. Personally, I think that piece of artistry is already affecting us because it's teaching us to broaden our interpretive minds and is exposing us to new sensations, which we may not have otherwise experienced at any other point in our lives. Things don't have to be what you can merely see and touch. There is a vigour in simply being living, cognitive beings, which we fail to take heed of as we get used to the routines of living.
