Wow! I need to read this again. Very well written and I can go along with it. I do agree they had to make it more for the now times and yes , the alternate universe was genius. It was truly well casted and the feel was true to essential trek. They did an awesome job matching characters , for sure. and it was cool to have Spock in it.!

I never thought about some of the points you made so pursuasively and with objectivity. Thanks for the detailed point of view.I haven't see it in a while to actually take more observing view. I did wonder how they were going to include everyone and try to be aware of both old and new audiences.

If one takes the personal :what thought it should be out of and the emotional attachement to having it mirror exactly what was before--one can percieve the creative and merit of the film. It was meant to be a different slant!
And the premise of star trek is the future--of what can be and going to where we have never gone before. So it still reflects the best of Trek!
