Forum for the Sci-Fi Writers Guild |
Hi all, I would like to introduce a topic for the Special Feature section of the Unofficial Science Fiction Newsletter involving a "Tour Around Our Solar System." [For those of you that are not already subscribers, feel free to check it out and subscribe at "Invalid Item" .] Every month, the NL can feature a different destination in our solar system, including considerations for traveling there, and perhaps aspects of colonizing the planet, moon or asteroid. This of course would be geared to points and tips that would be important to us as science fiction writers, and maybe include examples of science fiction stories written with those settings. I thought we could start at Mercury (or even the Sun), and work our way out, eventually getting to the gas giants and asteroid belts. When we get to Pluto we can touch on the whole asteroid versus planetoid controversy. I am always looking for people to help me out by contributing a Special Feature, so if this appeals to you, or if you have a special interest in any particular planet or solar system location, feel free to contribute a Feature. I know we have some rocket scientists, astrophysicists, mathematicians, and other space-buffs out there, so step right up! Eventually we'll do a contest based on the solar system tour. Any ideas here? Don't be shy! EarlyHours
